Terrific Conditions
Jesup Golf and Country Club is a solid 9 hole course located just outside of Jesup, IA. It features tree-lined fairways, and smaller fast greens, at a price that is truly fantastic.
Let's start off with the really good. Jesup Golf and Country Club is currently offering a rate of $20 for all day golf with a cart. It's also $20 to walk all day. Given how well the course is maintained, and the brisk pace of play, this is a tremendous value.
The course itself is a solid test. The fairways are heavily tree-lined, so you need to drive it straight to play well. If you miss in the trees, you'll be able to find your ball, but almost certainly will have to hit a punch shot to recover. Personally I'd like to see fewer trees, but my playing partners loved the test the trees provided.
The greens are the star of the course. They are bent grass and they roll very true and very fast. These are actually some of the fastest greens I've played in the state of Iowa, which was definitely a surprise!
Overall, I enjoyed my round at Jesup Golf and Country Club. It was a really windy day, and I'd like to play it again in calmer conditions. I will definitely be back.
My favorite hole is the short par 4 3rd. With the right wind, long hitters could go for the green, but not without risk. The smart play is to hit a 180-200 yard tee shot and leave yourself a wedge into the green.
