Reviews
Livonia ,I'm course
I've played all three courses and this is my favorite, nice place to tune up your game.
Great Experience!
Fun course to go out and have the ability to score. Busy Sunday but pace moved rather well. Always busy here and course was in pretty good shape. Greens have a lot of ball marks on them but that is due to golfers not repairing them. Course has multiple signs reminding golfers to repair ball marks on greens but it is apparent here that most golfers don't do that. I fixed as many as I could without holding up play. Overall a great experience and will definitely be back
Good Value With Golf Now But Not For Full Price
The course was in good condition, but the pins were in really difficult spots with fast greens. The inside staff was very friendly, but the in course Rangers were a little gruff and need to watch where they sit on the course while you are playing.
Over all good experience, but I would not pay the full price for this course. The golf now discounted price was worth it.
Thank you for your review and glad to hear you found the course in good condition!
Decent track. Requires 5 hours + to play
I play this course because of the proximity to house. Decent layout and fairly well maintained. Only gripe, and it is a big one, is the pace of play. Last week when I was checking in the ranger asked the person behind the desk for a copy of the rulebook. I should have taken that as a sign. Waiting on every shot for all 18 holes. Advised the ranger of my pace of play concerns and he said it opened up in a few holes; it didn't. The only time we saw the ranger beyond that was when we were looking for an errant shot in the rough and he stated we couldn't be driving around because it was 90 degree rule. Stated I didn't think that applied to the rough so far from fairway. Aside from that it was scorching hot outside and the grass bone dry. Regsrdless, with the snail pace of play I was surprises this is what the ranger was focused on. Bottom line, play with caution. Decent course with inexperienced and nearly invisible rangers.
Mike, thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad that you found the course in good condition.
Our rangers are volunteers and we are definitely working with them to improve their knowledge and performance.
Death March
I played in a 3-some behind two other 3-somes and a 2-some. We waited on every shot and on every tee watched the players in front of us tee off. We did not see a ranger until the 17th hole. The round took 4 hours and 45 minutes. It took about the same time the last time I played there. The waiting sucked most of the fun out of the round. I talked to the pro after the round and he thought that the time it took to play was normal for this course. OK, then, I'll never play there again.
Whispering Willows is not a bad layout. The greens were on the slow side. The bunkers were terrible. If bunkers are just dirt, why have them? The one on 17 was filled with water and it hadn't rained in 3 days--perhaps playing out of the water was preferrable to the dirt.
I would not recommend this course to anyone and I am embarassed that my city, Livonia, allows this course to operate this way.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
We have recognized that a number of our bunkers need work and it is a project we began last year. Unfortunately, without a huge budget, it is is not something that we can have done in one season and will take a few years to complete.
If you wish to return please give the golf shop a call and we can guide you to a time where you should be able to play at a better pace. We are a high traffic course and it is tough to fly around in the middle of a gorgeous day.
Good location
Course in good condition and generally plays fast. Staff is good and restaurant a good stop before or after a round
Thank you for your kind words!
This course is close to our church
This course is close to our church. After Sunday mass, i played often. Good maintenance and the driving range is good. But not challenging course. However, still good for playing for people living close . The best thing is if we buy a membership, we can play at fox creek and wispering willow! That's why i love this course. Tee box maintenace is necessary . There are many devot and holes at tee box .
Solid course overall
Course was good overall. It was toward the end of the day and felt rushed although we were waiting for the folks in front of us on every shot.
Thank you for visiting us! We hope to see you again soon when you may have a little more daylight to enjoy!!!
GooooD time
It was goood.
Not so crowdy, weather wasnt so bad.
Field was in goood condition
Thank you for your review Sean. Hope to see you again soon!
no food
course is ok they started groups on both 9,s which I don't like. 1st 9 was good pace 2nd 9 was slow. also no open food you cant even get a cup of coffee till 11 am
challenging
not a pushover but not too hard either. some tight holes with subtle but tricky greens.
Good muni course
WW was in very good condition this time around. Greens are mostly back and the fairway was in great shape. There are couple of holes that will make you scratch your head (#2, #5), but this course is mostly straight forward and fair.
Location is convenient too. I don't think many municipal courses in the middle of residential area that are better than WW and Fox Creek.
Nice track
I was the first tee time off in the morning as a single, so that pace of play is not normal, however, the other times I have played here have been fairly around 4 hours, even on weekend afternoons. This is my favorite of the three Livonia public courses. It has some really interesting holes but is not overly complex. This was my first time playing there this year and the course was in nice shape. The greens are a little rough from the winter still, but everything else was good.
Awful greens
I understand the winter was tough on some courses but I can't believe how bad the greens were here. My group was never made aware that there were some temporary greens. The greens that were in use were in some of the worst shape I've ever seen. Definitely won't be back again, I can play much nicer courses for the same cost or less.
GolfNow didn't list course issues
There were several greens that were under repair. Very high rough also. Not worth the fee paid.
course was under repair
The putting greens were terrible! Some were not even being used. They mowed down and flattened the approach area and made tiny little rough greens. I wanted to golf by my self, but they made me go with another pair. We had to wait about te to fifteen minutes on the first 7 or 8 holes as there were 4 or 5 golfers in front and going very slow. They made us start on the back nine and we should have started on the front as there were many less golfers on the front. It was still a good time ,but the course conditions could be much better.
dump!
half the greens were covered in arps and the actual greens were fairway grass, not manicured well at all, and doesnt drain well obviously ,hence the cart path only rule while other areas around this facility were dry. If all this would have been told, I would not have wasted my time.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we are glad to hear you had an enjoyable experience! Most importantly, thank you for your help in our never ending battle with ball marks!!!
