One of the best public courses in Southeaat Michigan
The Legacy is a perfect course for intermediate golfers. The length is perfect and the course poses a lot of fun challenging holes. I especially like 17 and 18 which feature tough tee shots over the water. And of course, They have the most famous hole in the area (No. 8) with the island green,
Greens are perfect speed for a public course. Tee boxes have differences in distance and cut well. The fairways are well-maintained and the rough is not impossible to hit our of.
Overall, I love playing this course. The value is fantastic. The rangers in the evening are unfriendly and rather strict. A perfect combination of links-style with a fair amount of trees.
Cheapo owner dishonored a $16 rain check on a $4000 customer
These owners and managers do not appreciate the guests or the loyalty of a $4000 customer. The owners are cheap , chincy, and possibly incompetent when it comes to honoring a contract. The golf course is in okay shape but management has only their eye on the dollar today. Yesterday I presented a rain check from last fall. They refused to honor it saying that it was more than 90 days old. What the??? If you were given a rain check after paying full price would you not expect it to be a valid substitute? There was no mention of an expiration at the time of issue. There was no expiration date printed on the rain check. I feel we have been cheated out of the value. For the last 10 years I have spent at least $400 a year at Legacy; bringing friends and clients to the course for play and or food service. I recommend that you do not patronize these goodwill killing people. They have received the last dollar from me. They have lost a $4000 customer over a tiny $16 rain check. Don't do business with these pitiful souls and poor excuses for business people.
All around good course
Arent going to find a much better and well rounded course than The Legacy in the NWOH and Southeast MI area. Course layout is nice with some challenging holes and enough hazards to keep it challenging. Front 9 has island hole which is a great signature hole you wont find anywhere else in the area. I think the back 9 is one of the best back 9s you can ask for. Each hole is challenging, course is stretched to longer yardages, more hazards, and tough greens. My only complaint is that the front 9 is a bit too open and can be pretty easy, but the back 9 makes you refocus with some tough fairways and longer par 3s. Overall great place to play and for the money is well worth it.
Overall the course does offer a great driving range, large putting green, and chipping area with practice bunker. Carts are in great shape, clubhouse is nice with solid amenities for a public course and has a friendly staff. Definitely recommend!
Great Shape
The course was in great shape and the greens were as good as I have seen them on this course. They were relatively fast and were holding shots. Front nine was smooth sailing, but unfortunately a foursome appeared out of nowhere on the 10th hole and these four oldtimers made the second nine a lot slower for our threesome. They never let us through so it was quite frustrating. Otherwise a very pleasant day despite the wind a a few quick rain showers. I will be back.
Great party 3 island hole
Fantastic course for every level. practice facilities were great and very friendly staffs. only thing was lacking there were no drinking water anywhere in course.
Great Staff & Amenities
The course was really dry although this was not the fault of the staff as it’s been over 90 degrees over the past week. Greens were in bad shape with ball and spike marks everywhere and the pins were all rolled over in desperate need of being moved with crisp cuts.
The staff was extremely friendly and did everything in their power to make sure our time there was excellent! Beer cart gal did a great job, saw her 5 times in 18 holes, was very thankful since it was 92 degrees.
Great course with fast greens
My brother and I were looking to play somewhere new in the southeast Michigan area. We had always wanted to play this course. We had a noon tee time and the course was fantastic. Of course, neither of us should have played from the blue tees but what the heck. Anyway, we had a great time and the course was absolutely in incredible shape. Greens were fast and true and the fairways were very forgiving. The ranger was very cordial and even tried to help us on the 18th with the wind blowing directly at us. Needless to say, I disregarded his advice and went into the water :). Great time and I would highly recommend this course
Great track
Played it 5-10 times over the years, one of Hills best IMO really a tournament type course. Hit the ball good and u can score out there.
Course is in Great Shape!
Played 18 Holes on Father’s Day. The Tees, fairways and Greens were in great shape. The speed of the greens was very consistent (medium - not too fast or slow). A few of the sand traps had rock hard sand and need some grooming. Recommend printing a layout of the course for a first time player as there are a few holes where the location of the next Tee is not obvious although they have some signs and painted lines on the cart path. Will definitely play here again!
Great layout friendly staff
The course was in great shape. The golf and grill staff were awesome. It's a classic Arthur Hills design. The greens rolled true, any missed putts were clearly operator error! Great value for the money, and a must play in the area. The 10th hole is always a great risk reward hole for longer hitters. Will be coming back for sure!!!
Great Course and fun to play! FAST and TRUE greens!
We had coupons for buy one get one free round so me and three friends drove an hour to get to the course and take advantage of our coupons. When we pulled up the course looked amazing and the huge club house was beautiful on the exterior. Course is in fantastic shape, very open layout and lack of trees. But, that is expected in this area of Michigan. Also, looks like the drought we had didn't affect the course conditions.
Pros: FAST and TRUE greens, tight fairways, good sand in bunkers, excellent practice faciility
Cons: Pins way too close to fringe!! Greens surface is small for how fast the greens are, but depends on what you like. Couple holes can be shooting galleries for how close the tee boxes are. Rough is very thick!
Overall, great course, challenging greens, fun to play and me and my friends will be back for sure!
Great course, great price.
The Legacy is a great course. The fairways are well maintained, the rough is a punishment but not a penalty. The fast greens offer the toughest challenge on the course. The Legacy has a phenomenal staff and great food. All in all I'd say its one of the top public courses in NW ohio and SE Michigan.
Very nice course just northwest of Toledo OH
Always enjoy playing the Legacy. Just a bit more upscale than you expect. Great clubhouse, GPS on the carts and more. The final hole is a fun test of skill long carry over water off the tee and then more water near the hole. You feel like you have over
One of the best public courses anywhere! Very well kept, true and speedy greens. A putters paradise! Fairways manicured with a mix of openness and narrowness. A shot makers dream! Staff is wonderful and the food is great. I love the links style that this course offers. Hard to find a links style course of this quality in lower Michigan for this price range!
