Ely Golf Club

A small town course I wouldn't get tired of playing! Age 78 and 11 Handicap.

Staying at lake vermillion we were looking for a nine holed as we were looking at 3 18s at the Wilderness and Legends. Beautiful northward day played in under 2 and were on the lake by 5. Course does not have water issues

Lots of trees lined narrow fairways. Greens were in great shape. Staff was super helpful.

The first 4 holes are rather open along the side of a hill. The last 5 play thru the woods and was very interesting. The weather was pretty dry with no rain for a while, which isn’t the courses fault but the grass was brown. The greens however ran really true. I liked it enough to play it again.

The first 4 holes are rather open which allows for some missed shots to not be penalized. The final 5 are fun upnorth type holes, through the woods and somewhat narrow. The weather was dry for sometime before we played and the course took the brunt of it. Although rather brown, the greens were good and rolled nicely. We enjoyed the course enough to play another 9.

Northern Minnesota is currently experiencing drought conditions so fairways on the dry side. However the greens are in fantastic shape. I was very impressed. Would definitely play again.

A great golf course and an exceptional staff. I played 18 and the course was fun to learn. I had lots of fun shots and heading to a lake afterwards for a swim. A day I’ll remember for all time! Thanks!
