Goat Ranch with Bad Communication
Interesting bones, but the course conditions were probably in the bottom 2-3 I have seen in my 30 years of playing golf. To top it off, we made GolfNow reservations to play on Labor Day. When we arrived at the course, it was closed with a sign on the door that says "closed - free to walk". No carts, not scorecards, and no water. A few days later, I requested a refund and GolfNow was unable to even get them to pickup a phone call to process it. A ridiculous experience all around and I'm still waiting for that refund.
Worse Course we played
Absolutely one of the worst courses we’ve played. Tee boxes were mostly weeds. The greens were mostly dirt. Quit after nine holes because it was not worth it. Asked for a refund and they would do it, but they didn’t know how to do it because the system was new.
Very poor conditions
Do not waste money on this course. GolfNow should remove it from their listing. This course probably was very good a long time ago. The greens were brown and there was very little if any grass in the fairways. The tee boxes were dirt.
The staff was very nice but the course was a disaster
I enjoyed my round at Coyote del Malpais Golf Course
The staff (especially Troy) at the course was very pleasant, congenial, knowledgeable and courteous. Upon arrival the staff processed me quickly. They provided information about the course and cart usage. It was a cold day (45 degrees) and I was informed about the cart 90 degree procedure due to the weather. The course was in winter conditions but played well. The course layout is challenging but provided easily identified, clear and fair landing zones from the tees I selected (Blue). thereby allowing a variety of strategies to be played out at each hole based on specific wind encountered on each hole. The weather was the challenging variable that needed to be considered for each hole (20 mph with gusts). I enjoyed the surrounding scenery. The buttes, plateaus and bluffs are beautiful and provide a wonderful vista from every where on the course. After the round I had a very tasty burger, fries and a coke. Again provided by the very attentive staff at the course. In spite of the decline in the declining weather throughout the round I enjoyed my round at the "Coyote" (I do not know if they call it that but those are my words not theirs). When I came out to my car after I ate the temp had dropped to freezing and snow was on my car. I would love to play the course again, especially in summer, but am from Buffalo, New York and am not sure when I will be able to return. Thanks again to Troy and staff for a enjoyable and memorable round.
When it gets Green
Nice little course after not playing it in years. This time of year the grass on the fairways and greens, is brown. I enjoyed playing this course. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They made the experience great. I will play this course again when its green.
Great to have this course nearby
Really the only golf course in central western New Mexico. We’re fortunate to have it!
HORRIBLE
Never played course in such bad condition. No grass. Damaged fairways and greens. Sand traps empty. We golfed it a few times within las 8 years and it has gone down hill. Can't believe tee off would actually sell rounds there.condition .made so hard to play my wife just sat in cart.
