First time this season
Tough course, for me at least. Some fairways are a bit narrow. Tree lined so there is an opportunity to lose balls. Whites are just a bit too far, yellows just a bit too close. But that is for me.
Awful Management
I have grown up playing at Battle Island and typically enjoy my time there. However, this summer has probably been the worst experience I have ever had golfing. Every time I have gone to play it has been log jam golfing. Management sends every group off the
Front 9. This has made for awful experiences people hitting into groups. Multiple groups have been held up from slow play, while the Back 9 goes untouched. The lack of care/monitoring the course from management is atrocious and makes for an awful experiences. I may have over looked this had this been my first time playing at this course. However, this has happened multiple times this year at different points in the day. Although I live down the road (5 minute drive) from the course I rather play somewhere else in the Oswego area.
A Good Challenge
This course will test your shot making skills, both the long and short game. Greens are small with tough hole locations. Its one of favorite courses.
A Great Choice
I discovered this course while visiting Upstate NY in late summer 2017 and have played 8 times in 3 months. Staff is very helpful. The course is in great shape. The food/beverage availability and friendliness of the staff from the cart staff on the course to the staff of the hot dog stand near the starting tees have been excellent. This place is better than most private clubs I have played.
