Old Hickory Golf Club

Well taken care of. Beautiful. Pretty open. Fast greens

The golf cart green closeness violation areas are a little ridiculous such as on green 10 and 18 and few others. But everything else is great.

First time at Old Hickory. Pluses: Greens were excellent, true, smooth and quick. And the pace of play was very good, played in under 4 hours at late morning on a Saturday. Minuses: The layout is ordinary, I have a pet peeve about courses that lead off with a par 5 as were both #’s 1 & 10. And Canada geese are the scourge of upstate NY golf courses, some places figure out how to get rid of the flying pigs and some don’t. Old Hickory hasn’t. The last par 3 on the back was almost unplayable.

Course was decent shape. There is no ranger and a free for all out there. No one follows there times and stacked up play always waiting. I just played front twice since pay of play so bad. Doubt I’d go back.

This was a very open course. The hot deal price was amazing. All the greens were pure, well rolled and just plain nice. All the mowing had been caught up on so the fairways were beautiful and the roughs rough enough. I will golf there again for sure.

The rough area of the grass is also impossible to find the ball. Cutcabit shorter. Also the trail from the parking lot to hole 1 is nothing but a rough back braking ride. Put a sidewalk in recommended. It will also be a better look for the the club.
