In photos: Check out Coore-Crenshaw's Streamsong Red

STREAMSONG, Fla. -- The Red Course at Streamsong Resort in central Florida, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, certainly makes a great first impression -- from the time you step out of its impressive clubhouse to the first tee.

The first hole, a long par 4 with a tee shot over water, is stunning, and there are plenty more beautiful and interesting holes to follow. While it wouldn't be accurate to call this a links course, there are plenty of links elements that make this different than most other Florida courses, helping Streamsong earn a reputation as the Bandon Dunes of the East.

Wrapped around the Blue Course, which was designed by Tom Doak, there's more water on the Red Course. The par-3 17th on the Red, arguably the signature hole, plays over water as well and is right next to the seventh on the Blue, which is the signature hole for that course.

From the back green tees, the course isn't overly long at 7,148 yards, but because there are some shorter par 4s, some of the holes are quite long, including the par-4 12th, which can play as long as 500 yards.
