About Hotel Casa Velas and Velas Vallarta

Located on beautiful Banderas Bay, Casa Velas and Velas Vallarta are two well-known all-inclusive resorts that offer a wide variety of amenities for every type of traveler. Because they’re sister properties under the same ownership, guests can enjoy luxury suites with garden, golf course, or ocean views at either location, along with transportation and access to amenities at both resorts. Casa Velas is an adults-only resort that offers a peaceful, upscale atmosphere with three restaurants and bars, several pools and Jacuzzis with concierge service and VIP access to the exclusive Táu Beach Club. Guests can unwind at the world-class luxury spa, which features treatments and hydrotherapy circuits, or stay active with swimming, tennis, beach volleyball and a full fitness center. Right next door, Velas Vallarta is a family-friendly resort with various restaurants, daily buffets and gourmet dining options, along with fully stocked minibars. Guests can stroll through lush tropical gardens, relax on the beach, swim in one of the three pools, or enjoy a game of tennis or basketball. There’s also a Kids’ Club with fun, supervised activities designed just for younger guests. Golfers staying at either resort have access to two nearby clubs. Marina Vallarta Club de Golf, designed by Joe Finger adjacent to Casa Velas, is an 18-hole course that offers incredible views of the Sierra Madre mountains, Banderas Bay and the tropical coastline. A half-hour cab ride away, Vista Vallarta Golf Club features two 18-hole championship courses, one by Jack Nicklaus and one by Tom Weiskopf. The Nicklaus course sits at a higher elevation and offers panoramic views of Puerto Vallarta, the marina and the bay, while the Weiskopf course winds through jungle, ravines and creeks for a more rugged, scenic round.

Great course layout. Causes you to strategize your shots. Was in great shape as state championships were ongoing.

Over-priced Pasture

Booked a $90usd round and ended up paying double that at the course; charge for a rider is $55usd and walking is not permitted, plus over 200 pesos in taxes.

The course is challenging - good, but the greens were patchy, sandy, or hairy. Very poor maintenance - patchy fairways and spotty cutting like it’s been chewed by goats rather than cut. The 4th hole on the ocean was lovely but all others were only ordinary.

Constant aircraft noise - approx. every 3 minutes a plane would takeoff.

No place to eat after the round.

No water provided in carts and none available on course except from beverage cart at a charge, of course.

Last time playing the course

The course was not in very good shape. Fairways were quite dry and brown. Staff was not friendly. Every time I drive by this course there are few groups playing. Why not charge $120 per round before 1:00 and fill up the tee times.

Good Course for the price we paid.

Thanks to GolfNow we got a good price at the Marina Course. It is in decent condition and we lucked into pace of play by starting on the back nine. Very accommodating starter. Played it 3 times in a week, and would return. Off to try the fancier courses - Vista and Vidante aswell as Flamingo next week. Adios

The course was in great condition. The greens were a bit slow but still enjoyable to play. The staff members are very polite.

Disappointed to be honest

I accidentally erased my pics I took but we got a cart low on fuel and didn't notice until near end when really low on fuel and when u pay lots extra for club rentals for two ppl, the cart guys should give u a cart that had been cleaned yes???

This was fail one and we took an Uber 40 mins to get here.

There was so much litter and debris from the event before us that I was embarrassed on course maintenance and management in place.

I can't say I'll be back sadly to report. I did manage to play well enough though not knowing the layout. Just disliked all the empty containers etc etc and a large mushroom I chopped with my wedge on the fairway! How do mushrooms get missed by mowers?

Played the Nicklaus course last week and loved it. Caddie master said I should play the Weiskoff 18. Can’t decide which one I like the most. They are both fabulous.

A must play

I don’t normally enjoy Nicklaus designed courses, but this was spectacular. Not a bad hole on the entire 18.
