Casa Velas is an adults-only resort that offers a peaceful, upscale atmosphere with three restaurants and bars, several pools and Jacuzzis with concierge service and VIP access to the exclusive Táu Beach Club. Guests can unwind at the world-class luxury spa, which features treatments and hydrotherapy circuits, or stay active with swimming, tennis, beach volleyball and a full fitness center. Right next door, Velas Vallarta is a family-friendly resort with various restaurants, daily buffets and gourmet dining options, along with fully stocked minibars. Guests can stroll through lush tropical gardens, relax on the beach, swim in one of the three pools, or enjoy a game of tennis or basketball. There’s also a Kids’ Club with fun, supervised activities designed just for younger guests. Golfers staying at either resort have access to two nearby clubs. Marina Vallarta Club de Golf, designed by Joe Finger adjacent to Casa Velas, is an 18-hole course that offers incredible views of the Sierra Madre mountains, Banderas Bay and the tropical coastline. A half-hour cab ride away, Vista Vallarta Golf Club features two 18-hole championship courses, one by Jack Nicklaus and one by Tom Weiskopf. The Nicklaus course sits at a higher elevation and offers panoramic views of Puerto Vallarta, the marina and the bay, while the Weiskopf course winds through jungle, ravines and creeks for a more rugged, scenic round.

Overall Fantastic - Would Play Again

Playing in July, past peak season, the course was in great shape. I played in 3 hours as a single, playing through one group.

The course layout is very fair, classic Weiskopf setup. A little tigther than the Nicklaus course, but never an unfair hole. The par 3s were all unique in distance and challenge. Playing from the blue tees i had par 3s ranging from 105 to 190 yards.

Overall the course exceeding my expectations.

Tough costal golf, good course.

Excellent service, really nice staff, the course had aerification on greens which by the way, were really difficult. Wanted to play this course for years, it was nice, very difficult costal golf.

Vacation prices aren’t always worth it

Paying top dollar to play golf isn’t something I’m unfamiliar with, but this course at this time of year was not a match for the price tag. Being my first time in PV, I can’t speak for time of year and course conditions, but this wasn’t it.

Great rate, little difficult in the clubhouse before

Played here a couple times before without issue. This time they would not check me in until 40 min before the round. They say the computer would not them. Not sure it was the issue since playing here before I had no problem. I just hit balls while I waited which was great since you can hit all you want for free. It's a difficult course for me, it's pretty narrow and the wind makes it long in parts. Condition was good to fair. Still haven't figure out how to play the bunkers, they have large rocks on rough sand. Overall best bargain in Vallarta close to where I live.

Good course.. convenient to those vacationing in Puerto Vallarta

We enjoyed playing at this course. It was quiet with minimal players so no rushing but of course very hot! The crocodile habitats were a little unnerving but we never had any issues. The front nine has a couple beautiful oceanfront holes and the breeze there is nice. Staff and rental clubs were great!

Vista Vallarta (Nicklaus Course) - Solid Golf Course

Chose to play this course while on vacation and was happy I did so. According to our hotel concierge and a few locals I spoke with, this course and the neighboring Weiskopf course are better than the resort courses because of both the conditions/maintenance as well as the terrain changes. The other resort courses are all flat and surrounded by the busy touristy hotel scene closer to the beach. The Vista Vallarta courses are very isolated from the crowded beach front areas and offer beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Overall, the course was in very good shape - greens were smooth and pure, bunkers held plenty of sand, and the fairways were lush. There was virtually no one else golfing at the same time I did so I had the entire course to myself which was very enjoyable.

From a price point ($250 when I played in June 2023), it was expensive in my opinion but thats what you get with destination golf. This course was a $50-75 premium to the other resort courses closer to the beach but worth it in my opinion for the reasons I listed.

Day in the sun

There were a few rough spots on the course but 90° heat will do that. The staff was very friendly and overall it was a good experience.

Good Course

Overall price was great. It was worth it but if you do take a passenger it will cost you $50. This happened to me and for that I will not play this course again if I have to take my wife or a passenger. $50 for a passenger is ridiculous.🙄
