Hotel Casa Velas and Velas Vallarta

I hadn’t played this course in several years, and remembered very little of it. The views are beautiful, the course is impeccable condition, the greens are very fast, and on the day and time I played, the course was empty and I was able to play 18 holes by myself in a little less than 3 1/2 hours. Delightful! My only reservation about the course is that it lacks a bit in character. There are only one or two really memorable holes, one a scary par 3 over a deep barranca.

Overall, it was a really nice day, if a bit pricey even at the afternoon rate.

No complaints about anything except the hard to putt greens - grass S much different and grainy than at home.

Will play again.

Beautiful course, challenging layout for my skill level but liked it a lot. Fourth time golfing here. Very friendly staff, well marshaled. Rate of play was good. Get to see some interesting wildlife different from Canada, including a few crocs. Hole 12 in particular. Don't go looking for your ball in the ponds!!!

If your staying in PV this course is conveniently located in the Marina Challenging layout for most golfers and always keep your eyes out for the many crocodiles

Much nice course than it looks from the road. Played in the afternoon and the pace was pretty good. Challening without being ridiculous. For courses in the area it was reasonable because I got an afternoon rate. Not sure I would ever pay the morning full rate, just not that into it.

Course is priced accordingly and fairways and greens are in decent shape. Sand traps are bad so stay out of them as there is no consistency in the depth of the “sand” verses the hard surface below. The traps are the only really negative thing about the course.

I loved this course. While up in the hills above PV, the routing was great and didn’t feel forced. (I was surprised that there were no actual “vistas” of PV.) The practice facilities were spacious and in good shape and the staff was very friendly. My only complaint is that they were aerating the second hole during the round.and were getting ready to aerate another hole during the round as I passed by.
