Reviews
Long on time. Short on carts and range balls.
Golf ought not be an ordeal. We arrived and waited 25 minutes for a shuttle. After a 15 minute ride we waited to pay. We then waited 20 minutes for golf carts. After getting to the range our carts were taken away. We had to then wait for range balls to become available at the range. Then we had to wait for carts. The caddy is mandatory and necessary. There is no possibility of finding your way from green to the next tee without one. The signage is unhelpful or not there. The course is incoherent with one par five less than 400 yards. The greens are inconsistent. The food cart has no protein but plenty of alcohol. Give this place a pass.
Golf good, infrastructure and management bad!
We arrived for our 12:40 team about an hour early. I had to leave ID card with security. We waited about 25 minutes for a ride to the clubhouse. There were no golf carts available. We were asked to drive a cart to the range for other golfers to use! After about 15 minutes some other people arrived driving a cart for us. Not a great system. We teed off 25 minutes late and experienced a 5 hour round.
All that aside, the course was great, very good condition. The caddy we had was great! Please fix the transportation issues!
Norman signature
Very nice course/facility. However, a little disappointed with the slow speed of the greens (7?)
Average value for money
We had to wait... they had no carts available.
We teed off 20 minutes lates.
Caddy are mandatory , they don't do much ( we don't need anyway ) and he arrived at the third hole !
You will know the price at the end , and it will not be enough anyway.
Course condition is great . People are nice but somehow useless .
Taxi ride of this resort is a challenge.
The best course in the area
I’ve played the Norman course at Vidanta twice now and it is the best. They are getting ready for the Mexican Open so lots of work being done. The fairways are wide and the greens are in great shape. Our caddie, Francisco, was great. Very helpful on the greens and well worth the $500 pesos I gave him. I plan to play there as often as possible especially with the $100 or less Golf Now Hot Deal. Highly recommended.
PGA Tournament course
Course is good and I can recommend. However, it was cart paths only as they were preserving the course for the Mexico Open in April.
Pace of play was slow, but so what, the weather was perfect and I wasn't at home in 20 degree weather.
Mandatory caddie is kind of annoying, although the caddie was pleasant enough. Kind of a make work situation if you ask me. I could have done without the caddie. Added to cost of play.
Overall a good experience, although cost was high.
Very large croc in pond at #9!
Beautiful & 1st Class
Beautiful course with some of the best views. Based on reviews, I was unsure if I should book a tee time here but my colleague told me it was one of the top 3 courses he has ever played.
To help others here are a few key points from a amateur golfer.
- if booked on Golf now, it would be a good idea to call and confirm your reservation 24 hours prior to tee time
- allow yourself 1-1/2 - 2 hours before tee time. Once you arrive, it takes some time to get you checked in.
- rental clubs were titliest and I received a nice variety as I was scared based on the reviews. Driver, 3 wood, irons 4-9, PW, 48, 52 & 56 degrees, putter and 4 hybrid. $60 rental cost
- as of 2/6, the course is cart path only but it wasn’t horrible.
- you are assigned a caddy and I would definitely recommend Mr. Felix. He was first class and even offered what I would call, free lessons. I honestly felt because of Felix, I shot my best round to date. There is a $14 charge and you must play with a caddy.
- last but not least, if you want your significant other to tag along, it’s a $50 extra charge. Although I didn’t agree, my wife loved and enjoyed every moment, therefore it was worth it. BTW- this was her first time to be on a course with me..
Enjoy your time, the course was beautiful, from your ride over the long suspension bridge, warm up driving range, clean air conditioned bathrooms, some of the best margaritas, seeing crocodiles and iguanas , I highly recommend.
Course was excellent, very good conditions and a very playable course for fun for all skill levels, our caddie Eduardo was very helpful and had great advice and green reads. Only issue was the pace of play, 5 hours or more for 18 was a little long.
Worth every penny!
Breathtaking views, pristine course conditions, private caddy. We played as a 3 some and never once felt rushed from the group behind us. 4.5 hour round
Current State of course
Course is usually the best value in PV. At the moment the greens were recently punched and are over seeded. They’re doing a bunch of prep for the Mexico Open. Fairways are also over seeded. Green side there’s a bunch of tight bare lies. Played this course 20+ times and this was the worst shape I have seen it and it’s way overpriced.
Beautiful day
Warning - Caddies are mandatory. Not used to having a caddy, but Martine was great, friendly and helpful. Course in great shape and forgiving, unless you go in the water. Enjoyed it so much we went back the next day.
Caddies Disorganized
Caddy set up very disorganized and this billion dollar resort. Needs more golf carts for golfers.
cart path only
Arrived to find out Norman is cart path only, they say until April. Too hot for all that walking, they were kind enough to put me on their other course. It's in great shape, but with really fast, tough greens. While it's a pleasant course to play, and in good shape, it's rather uneventful for those looking for wow.
Fabulous Golf!
This course was amazing! First, the ride thru the lush foliage on the long, twisty cart path just to get to the course was gorgeous. Then, you will drive over the world's longest suspension golf cart bridge to get to the course. Lots of water and sand hazards, so choose your landing spots carefully! The caddys are helpful, but, trust yourself on the putt lines.
Plan ahead
The check in process took way too much time due to having to wait for cart to take us from drop off area to the pro shop. At least 15 minutes waiting for a transfer cart to take us to the pro shop then 10 more minutes of drive time. Then a line at the pro shop to check in and then we had to take another cart to the driving range.
The course was nice except that the greens were recently punched so they were sandy and bumpy.
If we were to play here again we would get to the drop off area at least an hour or more ahead of our tee time.
Our caddy, Angel, was great.
