Bear Trap Dunes
I wish we had known the entire course was cartpath only before we booked. It made the round very long, and our group still can’t figure out why it was cartpath only. There is no GPS on the carts, so unless you have an app or GPS Finder, it was difficult to tell distances. The staff was very friendly and the course was in decent shape considering it’s seeing a lot of playtime this summer.
Best experience
I wish I could give the staff a higher rating 5 star does not do it justice. This course should be 5star all around on every golf page. I played 18 in just under 3 hrs including stopping after 9. Course is wide open makeing difficulty fairly mid level however greens were the trickiest I’ve ever played in the best possible way. Overall I would play here every day if possible.
Beautiful Course
Inside of a community. A little hard to navigate for the first time there. Had to locate where to pay, where to start and where the back nine was. Pace of play was slow due to a twosome in front of us and after notifying the Ranger, nothing was corrected and slowed even more. Course wasn’t super long holes and provided a nice mix of distances and a fair share of challenges of figuring out hole direction and pin placement. Overall it was a beautiful course and I would definitely recommend it. Would love to play again.
Loved it!
We had a great experience at BTD! Easy access, friendly staff, beautiful course conditions, and challenging layout. Highly recommend!
This is a fun and challenging course to play
The course was in great condition. The greens were very nice and good shape. I always enjoy playing on any of the three of nine hole courses.
Good outing, bad bartender
I enjoyed the course and the couple I played with. after the round I went in to have a glass of wine. I gave the bartender $20 and he proceeded to wait on several other customers and I was getting anxious he was going to forget my change and we were going to have an argument. That's not the way to do it. You take cash you give change back immediately. Anyway, it really upset me.
Monty
Course was nice, good layout, fair test of golf. Pace terrible five hours on a weekday. Why have a player assistant/ranger and let that happen. Would play again but I would have to go off before 8 am.
Nice course but over priced.
Got a great reduced rate deal to play here.
I’m glad I got this deal because if I payed the full rate, I would have been disappointed.
In my opinion, if you’re going to lay out 200 plus dollars to play a public golf course, it better be pristine.
Tees, fairways and greens were in good shape but I saw quite a few bunkers with weeds growing in them and a lot of them weren’t groomed. There were some thunderstorms in the area the day before I played which resulted in packed wet sand in the bunkers but at 200 a round, I believe they can afford to have a grounds crew that could tend to this.
I would only recommend this course if you can play if for less than $100.00.
Pleasant Surprise!
Didn’t expect the course, staff & members make our golf experience so grand! Course was in mint condition & we played with a member Kim who couldn’t have been more accommodating & friendly to us. We drove in from St Louis to play in all 50 states. This course in Delaware was such a pleasant jewel & surprise. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to play a great course!
Enjoy a Bear or more
Bear Trap Dunes is an outstanding place to hang out in Southern Delaware! Nice course, great conditions, and very friendly staff! Always enjoyable and challenging to play.
Late April review of Kodiak and Black Bear
We enjoyed our round immensely despite a constant 20 MPH wind and chilly weather. Courses were in excellent shape (tee boxes, greens, and fairways) with the always present tough rough. Terrific course, polite and enthusiastic staff.
Can't wait to play at Bear Trap Dunes again.
