Very friendly staff

I had a good time at kiva dunes. The pace was fairly quick for a resort course. Not a difficult course and 5 sets of tees make it playable for everyone.

It was a great course and well maintained. Only downside was no gps on the carts and the holes were not well marked and no real course layout info

Kiva Time

Course is a challenge but playable. With it being early in the golf year it was more challenging than I would have liked. Some fairways are 25 to 30 yards wide at most!

You need to use irons or rescue clubs off the tee, unless you are very accurate with your driver. It was cool and some parts of the fairway were damp so not much roll. The greens were very hard and the ball rolled quite a bit more than expected.

VERY SLOW

Two good things about the course: the layout is interesting and the greens were OK. Fairways and tees were terrible. Pace of play was about 3 hours for 9 holes. No one can really play that way and enjoy it even on a nice day. Never saw a ranger anywhere,, somewhere up ahead there had to be a super slow group. Also carts are not allowed in some areas potentially slowing down play because of the layout, The only way we finished before dark was because several groups behind and ahead of us quit. You could literally see groups in several areas driving back to the clubhouse.

This is the only course that I have played on through golf now (of about 50 in FL, AL, SC and MI) that makes golf now players wait until 15 minutes before tee time just to check in. Some courses are very strict about waiting for your tee time because they’re full but you are treated poorly here. My advice is for golf now to not ‘work’ with this course or vice versa. Will definitely NEVER play this course again.

Good course - Horrible Restaurant/Bar

The golf course itself was in good shape considering the time of year and the amount of rain it had received the previous 1-2 weeks. It is also a fun fairly challenging layout. My main complaint and the reason for the low rating was the bar/restaurant in the clubhouse. After the round, we sat at the bar for 10 -15 minutes waiting for the bartenders to simply serve us a beer. We were the only ones sitting at the bar and there were 2 tables of golfers waiting to order food. You would think a seasoned bartender would have taken 1 minute and grabbed us 2 beers since we even told her that was all that we wanted, but instead she spent 10-15 minutes waiting on the 2 tables, taking their drink and food orders, and delivering their drinks to them without even acknowledging us other than to say "I will be right with you". After waiting almost 15 minutes, we got up and left. It was the most absolute worst service scenario I have ever experienced. Considering they are the "number 1 ranked golf course in Alabama", you would think they could at least be able to serve you a beer after the round. Ridiculous, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I would recommend the course, but don't expect anything but horrible service after the round is over.

Good course but horrendous service in the bar

Golf course conditions were in good shape especially considering it was February. It is a fun layout as well I’m not sure if I would consider $82 for a midweek round a “good value” but it was a fun course to play. Major complaint was the bar area. After the round, we sat at the bar for at least 10 minutes simply wanting a cold beer after the round. We were the only ones sitting at the bar yet the bartender spent all of her time serving 2/3 tables of golfers. She commented to us at least 3 times during our 10 minute wait that she would “be right with us” yet refused to take 1 minute and grab 2 beers out of the cooler for us. We got so frustrated that we got up and let after 10+ minutes of waiting. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever experienced.

the course was in very good condition for mid February. Greens were firm but a bit on the slow side. Staff was excellent as always!

Great Course Shot For Shot

This course is a shotmakers course! Great greens but pin placements can be difficult. My favorite course on the Gulf Coast!
