Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa

About Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa
The Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa is perhaps the signature property along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Not only is the course the newest, longest (8,191 yards) and arguably the best of the 26 courses along the trail, you could say the same for the resort. Located in Hoover, Ross Bridge features a spa, stylish rooms and suites, a magnificent ballroom, indoor and outdoor pools, and several upscale restaurants and bars, including Brock's, The Clubhouse Restaurant and JT's Lounge. The resort is also only a mile away from more RTJ golf at the 54-hole Oxmoor Valley, which includes a short course.Facts

So disappointing to have views like this of a beautiful golf course, only to get greens that are far below sub-par on the Valley course. Photo submitted by BrandonWebb on 06/12/2017

Fantastic Course for $25!!
Caught a deal for 71%off and the course was great. Have played the short course a few times. Probably the best short course ever! But the Valley... Beautiful, challenging, and fun!
Great little afternoon getaway
I was able to play this course as a single in less than 2.5 hours. I suspect that's primarily due to the very high temperature keeping people from coming to the course.
Was very impressed with the condition of the course, especially for late July. Bounces were fair, greens rolled true, and the bunkers were consistent.
I'd definitely recommend this course to anyone, especially if you can snag a deal on the rates.
Played the par 3 "short course". Among the best greens I have ever played on!
This is not your father's pitch and putt. Nice, mature layout with course in excellent condition. Greens were immaculate, and even though it had rained quite a bit the day and night before, course was very playable, even the bunkers. About the only "complaint" I have is that because of tee/pin placements, I ended up using the same clubs more often than just the yardage would have you believe (I played the "orange" tees, which were the 2nd longest).
Very fair golf course
I prefer the layout of the Valley Course over the Ridge. No blind shots. I would have rated the course higher if the green complexes were either bent or a hybrid Bermuda. They were recently punched so they were slow and a bit bumpy. But overall it is a fun course to play.
Trash on greens
I would recommend blowing of pine and oak Trash a couple time a day. I got tendentious removing trash from line for putt. Really liked course!
What can I say, it's a Trent Jones Track
Awesome as always.. Greens were a tad bit slow but ran true.. Got an awesome twilight rate too.. Loved it!!
Lots of elevation
Great course. Very good condition for early in the year. Elevated greens on almost every hole. Great fun
Challenging but fair - Exceptional Condition
Played 3 RTJ courses in four days and this course was in the best condition of all the courses. Course was beautiful, no trickery with a beautiful layout. Of the three courses played, this is one would chose to play again. Greens were great shape, rolled true and not severe. Very playable course but each hole was unique and interesting.
Outstanding
Awesome track and well worth the expense. Resort prices for beverages off set by excellent service and attention to detail. Greens were outstanding and held shots. Played both Oxmoor tracks following Ross Bridge and there is definitely a premium with RB. I preferred and would highly recommend RB and the Valley at Oxmoor when visiting Birmingham.
Fun course!
Great course as all courses on the trail are. Plenty of holes to test your skills but still a course that is fun to play. Well maintained from tee to green. Pace of play was very slow. I will say the Marshall was doing his best to move people along. Will definitely play again!
Great course and helpful staff.
The course was cart path only and very wet from previous rains so it played longer than normal. Most approach shots are at least one club more than measured distance. I enjoyed the course and hope to play again.
GOAT PATH
Looked forward to playing this track, was super excited pulling in, staff was very helpful, friendly and courteous....course was in decent shape, greens mediocre speed and bumpy.....I was super disappointed with layout....every par 3 looked the same and was roughly the same yardage, every par 4 looked the same with similar yard ages...you are hitting up to par 4 greens and down to par 5....cart paths were ridiculously far from greens and tees and you had to walk straight up or down to get back to your cart...I know it is advertised has hilly but this was just a bad design...the three guys I played with at various times all said "haven't we already played this hole"
Good course for a good price
Very nice course. Greens were rolling very good. The RTJ courses are very good courses to play if you are here on travel or live within the area. The Ridge was in good condition. It was my first time playing the course. I look forward to playing the Valley course soon.
Awesome course!
We always love to play the valley course when in town! Don't let the name fool you! There are lots of hills! The course is in beautiful shape and the staff couldn't be more welcoming!
Beautiful course, great condition
The course was in great shape and the course staff was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely play it again.
Nike rentals , no shoe rental available
Thought course was in great condition. We played in winter so rough was dormant. Locals said they like it better in summer because the fairways are softer and the course is greener. Several holes had nice elevation changes which coming from south Florida is always nice change. There are several different tees to play from including the black at over 8000 yards! It's about a half hour drive from downtown Birmingham so if you're in the area put it on your list of places to play.

Dear Phinisher,
We are glad to hear that you had a great time! The course does green up quite a bit during the spring and summer, but it also gets a little faster, too! Elevation changes are to be expected here in central Alabama, especially since we were built on old US Steel mining land. Thank you for providing feedback, and we hope to see you back at Ross Bridge again soon!
Likely to be wet, but good course
The course was wet, very wet. Being from Washington we are used to that, but still, it was wet. Howeer, it was a fun course to play. We played from the teals. However, don't believe the course recommendation that anyone with a 20 or higher index should play from the teals. The whites are clearly playable.
Great course! Challenging from whites and teals!
We played whites and teals (24 and 36 indexes) and had a great time. Open fairways but incredibly challenging. Slope from white seems wrong - much more challenging. LOTS of water to shoot over from the whites. With wind, you'll be challenged, to say the least. Very dry, especially compared to Oxmoor Valley Valley course. Very friendly marshalls who care about you having a good time. VERY fast greens, as they warned us in the pro shop. White te RTJ Golf Trail website had deals for the winter, Golf Now cost was less.

Dear casnmms1,
We are happy to hear that you had a great time! With over 10 holes fronting on the water, it can make it difficult to play at times. We pride ourselves on our service and our marshals are always looking for ways to improve your experience at Ross Bridge. Thank you for providing feedback, and we hope to see you back at Ross Bridge again soon!
Great golf experience
Big, bold, visually impressive, and fun. Greens were nearly perfect. Super long, but if played from the right tees, more playable than other RTJ courses. Unless you put one in the water, you'll have a hard time losing a ball here. Room to miss on most holes.

Dear blueg1rl,
We are truly happy that you liked the course! We always remind people that while we may be the 4th longest course in the world, it certainly has wide fairways to tame it down a bit. Thank you for providing feedback, and we hope to see you back at Ross Bridge again soon!
Bring your "A" game - nice!
Enjoy this course bit more than the ridge course - tough greens but if make shots can score well - very nice scenery and of course RTJ elevated greens and more sand than the beach - would play again tomorrow!
Dear wayneyonka,
We are glad to hear that you had an outstanding time! We pride ourselves on our service, so thank you for that comment! Thank you for providing feedback, and we hope to see you back at Ross Bridge again soon!
