Amazingly Fun and Challenging
First time there!!! Ron greeted us and made us feel at home.He gave a few tips to help us out with our stay there. Beautiful facility…my son and I will be coming back!!!
Fun layout at a reasonable price!
My wife and I’s second time here. We live in Scottsdale and the green fees are crazy everywhere this time of year. The conditions on a couple of greens weren’t the greatest but the layout, especially the back 9 more than make up for that. The course is challenging, but fun and nice views on the back 9. Very friendly staff and a nice resort from what I could tell. Drink cart girls were always around and just a nice afternoon overall. This course will be on our rotation. They added GPS which is helpful given the multiple blind spots, etc.
Lightening quick greens today
The course has mostly grown in from the fall overseeding, not sure why do many holes remain cart path only, I’m sure there is a valid reason but I am not an agronomist so I cannot comment . The greens were very fast today, not sure if that is an every day occurrence or not I don’t play here often enough to know the usual conditions. Price is fair relative to other courses of the same level relative to the conditions. Staff are courteous and helpful as usual.
Greens are too fast, tees are torn up
So many rounds on small greens and tees that the greens are like concrete and tees often sand. 1/2 the fairways roped off.
Done in four hours! Pace and play really good
You can always depend on Arizona grand when you get off the airplane. You go to place they have water at most of the holes and they have really nice people here.
Greens were really spotty with inconsistent grass. Making it more difficult were the pin placements. Greens were cut so short and were dry balls would not hold.
Tee boxes were okay but fairways were cut short and were hard so wedges into the green was like hitting off a waste area.
For a busy Friday, surprised there was only 1 beverage cart operating. It came around on 2 and 15, and due to the layout of the course, there are no amenities at the turn. So, if you didn't stock up you are out of luck for refreshments.
Pace of play, was almost 5 hours. Waited on every hole starting on 3. Marshall drove past a few times, but pace did not speed up.
Now, with all of that said the course has some really nice holes nestled into the community it surrounds, and it provides some great views.
I'm not sure I will be in a rush you go back anytime soon.
Great course. Very different from most in the valley. Kind of a risk/reward course. Some short par 4s & 5s you can go for but with a lot of risk. Good conditions. The greens were kind of ugly but we’re fine for the most part.
Negatives: Greenskeepers need some practice replacing the holes. There is no practice range & the new carts are very annoying. Seemed like every time I drove in the rough, it beeped at me and then made me reverse back into the fairway.
Resort golf
Not very traditional. Gimmicky holes. Probably could play without a driver. Some very scenic holes. Course is in average condition at best. Changing island green to a tee box was a definite downgrade to the course. Once is enough.
Fun layout
We were visiting for a golf trip and we appreciated the variety of hole layouts and fun blind shots.
Arizona Grand
A beautiful course with interesting challenges with the water. There was one hole that had 3 tiers elevations to get the green. A nice and challenging touch.
First time playing
I wanted to be able to play a nearby course to where we were vacationing in the morning. There were certainly nicer courses close by but more expensive and afternoon teetimes. The reviews of this course I read were varied, but mostly positive. My first impressions of this resort and course were that it was going to be extremely nice. After playing, I would share that the overall feel was that it is a nice resort but a mediocre golf course. Most of the bunkers needed significant improvement and were extremely shallow. The course was indeed challenging, however, and I wasn’t in the greatest golfers shape. One of the highlights was the GPS variability throughout the entire 18 holes of each golf cart. Greens could use some extra manicuring. Also, the driving range is not a range but only a net some 500 yards from hole #1. The chipping area is nowhere near the “net” and the pitting green is small but only feet away from #1 tee box. Staff was phenomenal and this made it enjoyable enough to return (someday). Most of all, it enjoyed the day paying and playing with m son and uncle. (I hope this is helpful)
