Morning view down the Par-5 5th fairway. A strong drive, especially to the center-right fairway, sets you up to go for the green in two! Photo submitted by vmustang on 04/25/2021

Course layout
This course is very well laid out. Not too many areas that are trouble. There is a canal that runs through various parts of the course. Canal not very wide and not hard to hit over. Fairways well kept and the rough not very deep. The day I played the tempo was very slow and had taken 5 hours to finish.
Friendly staff . Started on time good pace of play . Good sand in the traps In general course is in very good shape
Decent
Cons: no driving range, only foam balls and about 160 yds to work with. This means no warm up for driver, I call that ridiculous. Bunkers need love, for a course of this clout, should be sand in bunkers.
Pros: practice green comparable to course. Nice conditions and some real challenging holes. Note the 481 yd par 5 followed by the 471 yd par 4, so fun. Greens rolled very nice but very small.
I probably won’t play again, if I can’t warm up before my round . The first few holes could be a wash as it was yesterday. I had a good back 9 but the course should not be trying to compete with similar course prices if they don’t have standard things like a driving range.
Great Course
Good layout. Cart path only made pace slow.
Greens were running well for the date ... Great grill and bar at Grill 66
great course!!! it’s cart path only for seeding which is expected this time of the year but had a great time… definitely play again txs SAN MARCOS !! staff was awesome !!!
Well kept greens and fairways, minimum rough.
Might suggest sandwiches on beverage cart when snack shack is closed.
Horrible pace of play
After 21/2 hours to play 9 holes we just left after waiting for every shot. Marshall told us at 2pm that he was out of there, so just follow that group. Nobody out there to keep pace going. Course was in good shape for reseeding, but there are better options for play and not spend 5-6 hours golfing. There are better options for my money and time spent.
Enjoyable 18 holes
I thought the coarse was in great condition after over seeding. Play was 4 hrs 10 minutes. Yes it was cart path only as it was clearly stated when booked so a little walking did the heart good. Keep up the great work folks this golf coarse have come a long ways in the past few years.
