About El Conquistador Tucson, A Hilton Resort

The El Conquistador Tucson, A Hilton Resort, is one of the destination's most historic golf resorts, dating back to 1928. It is also one of the largest for golf with two 18-hole courses and an additional 9-hole Pusch X short course that plays 2,700 yards. The AAA property features five pools, including one with a waterslide, as well as lighted tennis courts. Resort activities feature water aerobics, yoga and nature walks on nearby trails. For families, there is a kids club for ages 4-12. Among the 427 rooms are 1, 2 and 3-bedroom casita suites with separate living and dining rooms, swimming pool and hot tubs. The resort is adjacent to the El Conquistador Golf & Tennis, a semi-private club whose courses were built in the 1980s. It is managed by Troon Golf with a First Tee and PGA Junior League program.

Fast 9 hole course with tough greens

This course is short and plays shorter due to the lack of recent rainfall. Very good layout and great Mountain views. Local knowledge is necessary to score. Greens undulate severely to the point of being unfair. You can easily putt off the green and we did, even though the greens were not that fast.Course was busy but speed of play, 9 holes in under 2 hours was reasonable.

Beware of the Automatic Ball Return!

On in regulation, only to end up with a tripple bogey due to the auto ball return off the greens. Unless you plant your approach like a pro, don't expect a great experience on the greens. Even when you get on, by the time you get to your ball, it has rolled off a hill and is 25 yards away. :-(

Great little 9 hole course and not a bad view on a few holes. Even with a little wind the weather was perfect. Greens were a little quick on a couple of the holes but it was nice challenge. Make sure to hit em straight!
