Memorable Day Great course
I've wanted to play this course for years and thrilled I had the chance this year. The course is in fabulous condition. Fairways were lush and the ball sat up consistently on all 18 holes. Greens held shots well and rolled true and fast. Scenery was awesome. The course was challenging but fair. I played the gold tees and at 6700 yards demanded long and short iron shots alike. Great day and a memorable round. Can't wait to come back at play again! Thanks for a great day Troon North staff!!
Best Public course in Scottsdale
We played as a threesome on the Monument course on a Thursday afternoon. Arrived early to have a nice lunch overlooking the putting green prior to hitting the range.
The course was in great condition and the greens rolled well and had nice speed. I hit a variety of different clubs from the tee in order to keep it on the fairway, which is key here. The GPS on the carts is a plus.
We played in 4 hours which is great for an afternoon round. A must play if your in the area.
Fantastic in Every Way
Top notch staff, incredible facility, one of the better pro shops I have ever been in that wasnt a pga tour tract, immaculate greens/fairways. Challenging but not unfair. Honestly, one of my favorite courses I have ever played anywhere in the US.
Must play
Great course in excellent condition. Fairways were excellent. Played every shot "down" except for one when I was in an unrepaired divot. Greens rolled great...about a 10-10 1/2 on the stimp. They were bentgrass but fighting a poa invasion. The greens still rolled great but I was told they were going to be re-done .
My only disappointment was I had reserved the round at a rate of $146 but was charged $165......still a good rate for the course but really didn't get a satisfactory answer as to the "why" of the change.
Despite that only blemish....I would highly recommend this a must play course.
Top Notch!
Got a great GN rate for a midday teetime and got to the course early enough to use the range. Great welcome service from the bag drop and Pro when checking in. Good quality range and range balls so a good warm up and a test of the putting stroke before being sent to the first tee.
We had expected to be paired up with another couple but the starter let us go as a two although this was a bit frustrating for the first few holes being behind a very slow 4 Ball. However the Marshall soon sorted that out and we were let through very promptly so having played the first 3 holes in just under an hour we then played millionaire golf for the rest of the round without seeing anyone else in front and finished in just under 4 hours so great POP.
Carts are well equipped with a good Touch screen GPS that made my range finder redundant
Course was immaculately prepared with only a couple of holes, apart from the short holes, being cart path only which was understandable given the recent heavy rains in this area. Greens were very good, not overly quick, some evidence of pitch marks but given our teetime these may just have been from the mornings play.
Overall a great experience. We'd played Boulders twice earlier in the holiday and thought that course would be difficult to beat but I felt the undulating fairways of Troon Pinnacle just pipped the North at Boulders but both course get a 5 Star rating from me and my wife.
Swing slow!
Perfect timing
I Looked on your web site for deals on playing a nice course in Phoenix area for after church on Sunday. I was very surprised to find Troon North had one tee time available at 11:25 am at half price! It was at the perfect time for my friend and I to go to church and still have time to get to the course. Anyone who has played Troon North knows what an awesome course it is and we were thankful to get to play it at such a great price.
Good course layout and nice scenery
The course conditions weren't the best. Pockmarked and slow greens with inconsistent speeds. Excellent layout and the clubhouse. Restaurant is very good. Golf Staff attitude must improve if they want customers to return. Overall, these weren't $200+ courses. I expected better experience overall
Greens need a lot of work
Lots of poa in all the greens
Great course
Had the first tee time as a single so played at my speed (quickly). Course was in great shape, very true bent grass greens. Overseeded this time of year so green. If I could play a course every day, this would be it. Moderately scenic, desert is close but not intrusive.
Not worth $170+
The course itself is asthethcally beautiful!
The entire course including the bunkers were saturated ( it hadn't rained for a week ). The greens were ok , however seemed to have some type of fungus in spots. More than half of the tee boxes had no signs indicating my specific tees , so I was driving back and forth looking for them.
Workmen were mowing while in the middle of shots.
Hit it Straight
As we were checking in staff informed us that the Pinnacle course was the more challenging/difficult course compared to the Monument course, also located at Troon North. Even though I have not played the Monument course I would agree the Pinncale is the more difficult out of the two. You need to keep the ball in the green stuff or you will be hitting the ball out of the dirt, rocks or bushes. Great warm up facilities, unlimited balls to hit, putting greeen and a chipping green, which I'm starting to expect from top notch golf courses. A great desert course. The best condition course we played in Scottsdale.
Nice dessert course
It is nice dessert course. If you can not stay in the turf, your ball goes to the dessert and bush. But fairways and greens are perfectly maintained. You can ne good score if you hit strait.
Absolutely Beautiful course in great condition
I was out here visiting family and played here as well as Grayhawk and Sunridge Canyon. This course was in fantastic condition. The fairways were on par, greens moving at a perfect speed. I was very impressed with the course and the scenery is astonishing. Staff was very friendly and overall good experience. Anyone who enjoys this course should also look to play at Sunridge Canyon, I had a great experience there and it is a similar style. Both courses challenging but very fun.
Great Track and Conditions!
Don't miss it. The course has great views and multiple tee boxes so all handicaps can enjoy. Super conditioning.
Troon North Pinnacle
Very nice golfing experience, great layout, especially liked the par 3's. Only drawback was the amount of divots that were not repaired and ball marks on greens that were not repaired, I don't really fault the course for these problems, it's the players who are inconsiderate to others.
Troon Monument Tuesday 9th Nov 16
Although cart path only, due to recent overseeding,, the course was not only in good shape, but represented good value too. The Trron Nrth courses always represent a good challenge to all golfers, although in past xperience, you can encounter pace problems. Not on this occasion though, as everyone moved round well, without the need for any ranger pressing slow foursomes. Greens ran fairly true, albeit they showed evidence of heavy play in recent times . All facilities first class, and the Dynamite Grill in clubhouse always represents fantastic value and good food- particularly helped by everyday specials and Happy Hours.
Any visitor to North Scottsdale visiting here should not be disappointed.
Troon North Pinnacle
Nice course, friendly staff. I don't fell this course is worth $239
Great Course, Slow Play
I really enjoy this course and it was in great shape. My only complaint is the pace of play. We were over five hours for our round.
Troon
Just a great experience overall. Beautiful course. One of the best I have ever played.
A walk in the Park.....................
I've played golf for 50 years and lived in Arizona 46 of those. Living in the Phoenix area for the past 17 years I had not played Troon North. We played the Pinnacle course and I'll have to say that not only was the scenery awesome, the course challenging and in perfect condition BUT I would have to say that I believe the putting greens were the FINEST I've ever played in my life! I think I'd go back out just to PUTT!!! It is an expensive course BUT one you should at least play once a year!!!
