Great Course
We have played this course a number of times when we visit Scottsdale. One of our favorites! because of re-seeding it was cart path only so the round was longer than usual...but that's OK. The one TERRIBLE thing about this course though is the service (or lack thereof) in the dining room. This is the second time we have attempted to have lunch after golf and walked out. Both times, we went in, sat down and waited. Two women servers chatting away and would not even acknowledge us. One looked like the supervisor. Eventually I went to get my own menus right beside them. Still no acknowledgment we were there. After another 5 minutes we got up and left. As I returned the menus I asked them women if they were too busy to serve us. One said (as she walked away) oh we will get to you shortly. There were only three other tables with people so not too busy and not too busy to at least acknowledge that we were there. For this reason, I have to say that the course doesn't hold as much for us as it used to
Beautiful views and golf
There was an issue with the practice range, but the course played great!
Not in good condition, slow
The driving range was closed and this information wasn't posted anywhere. In fact, I didn't find out until I checked in and asked where it was. Unfortunately, we weren't able to warm up at all. This compounded our terrible experience as the round took almost 5 hours and the course was not in good shape. The course could be amazing if it was in better shape and they actually attempted to control pace of play.
Pinnacle - Great Layout, Overpriced for Conditions
Late morning tee time. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent locker room with showers and towels. Range is very good, but short game area is small. Very nice putting green. Starter was very helpful and personable, got us off to a good start.
Pinnacle is a very interesting course. A tough challenge from the gold tees. We were somewhat disappointed in the conditions. Some of the tees were chopped up. Several fairways had some bare areas. Fair amount of poa on numerous greens. We expected late summer conditions, but we deserved better for a $140 midday round.
The only service complaint came after the round. We tried to get a beverage after we cleaned up, but the bartender wouldn't even recognize our presence. Kind of a negative ending to a positive experience.
Good to check it off the list, but We Ko Pa is a better value without the housing.
Surprising
Today's experience was unusual for Troon. Nobody at the bag drop, starter nowhere to be seen and overall course conditions not 100%. It was a late Sunday afternoon time, and based on past excellent experiences I'm willing to give them a pass. Great golf courses (we played Monument) just not up to the normal Troon North standards today.
Very Scenic
Nice views of the Sonoran desert. Nice greens and bunkers
this is a great course
This is one of my top three favorite course in the Phoenix area. If you have not play Troon North before it is worth the trip. Both courses are very nice my favorite is deffinately the Monument.
Great This Time of Year
Played mid June and the course played beautifully....Tee to green was very nice and the greens were great for the summer months......Always a great deal for the summer rates....
Pinnacle Course in the Summer
It was hot, about average. While the course layout is very good, the condition was what I expected in this heat. It was still much better than many area courses.
Pace of play was fast because it was hot. Greens were ok, but better in the winter. They held approach shots well, but were a little fuzzy.
Fairways and tee boxes were fine. GPS on the carts was helpful.
From the tees, the fairways appear very narrow with no room for error, but from the fairway, it looks different. There is room.
Love this course and can't wait to play it again.
Fun Course
First time playing Pinnacle, although I have played Monument many times. I enjoyed the layout, but a little disappointed with the conditions of some of the greens. The price was right, so I was will to overlook the conditions. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would have no problem playing the course again in the future.
One of the bes
It blows my mind that this course is not ranked higher. This is by far my favorite course whit houses on it. The layout is spectacular, it feels like they just dropped holes in the middle of nowhere. All around a world class course.
Troon
Spectacular corse and price! Thanks golf now
Troon
Great course could play here all the time!!
If you can stand the heat.....play Troon
I have golfed all over Phoenix and Scottsdale and when I am in town I look to play a new course. This was my first trip to Troon North. I will definitely play this track again.
The course was in great shape. The greens were rolling a 9 and were very soft. I really liked the feel and actually made a few long putts. The fairways were as nice as I have played and we got a fair amount of roll off the tee. I drove with my 3-wood as much as I did with my driver. Bunkers were in good shape. The par 3's were a challenge and required a very accurate tee shot.
It was hot the day we played. There were water stops almost every hole and the marshall drove by and gave us cold towels for our faces and neck. What a difference this made! The staff was excellent and very nice. If you want the "true" desert golf experience, play Troon North!
A course you need to play!
This course was in excellent shape for The heat of July. Great course with spectacular views. A few tricky greens. Definitely a must play. Played copper jade combo
Challenging Course with great scenery
The course as always is a great experience but the greens were fair. Some slower than others with a lot of bumps on all of them. For still being one of the more expensive courses this time of year I would expect more.
Great course!
Always heard great things about Troon North.
All are true! Great course & facilities, as well as great staff. Will definitely play again when I'm back in Scottsdale.
Beautiful course
I enjoyed my round on the Monument course. Great design with a variety of elevation levels. A little short (5000 yards) for me but 6000 yards would've been too long. A tee box in between would be a nice option. The greens have some type of fungus but the ball rolled well anyway. Employees were friendly and helpful. The scenery was outstanding.
Best in Arizona!
I was able to get a great summer rate to play the Pinnacle course and the views were amazing! The course is immaculate and I wanted to take a photo all through the round. It's a course you must play!
#Troon
Troon North is truly a fantastic course!! One of my favorite courses ever! A must play course.
