Francisco Grande Hotel and Golf Resort is a historic hotel, golf course and sports academy 45 minutes south of Phoenix-Scottsdale. The hotel and golf course is on the campus of Grande Sports World, a training destination for youth and national teams. The property was founded by Horace Stoneham, the owner of the San Francisco Giants, and opened in 1959. There is an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, while guest rooms are standard rooms and suite accommodations. The golf course was designed by Ralph Plummer and can stretch to over 7,500 yards from the championship tees.Facts

course is poorly managed
played 2 consecutive days. both days took 4 hours 50 minutes. no marshal. several holes alongside ours were empty. poorly managed and not worth the visit
Needs lots of tlc couse is very run down . probably would not play again.
Give this one a try for sure
This course is indicative of courses built years ago. Long with lots of trees. We found it a lot of fun and would definitely play it again. The staff is very accommodating. The golf shop is well stocked. We stayed at the hotel so it was very nice to walk out the front door right to the golf course.
Very disappointed
Very disappointed in the condition of the golf course. Fairway grass was too long needed to be cut. Greens were very slow. Not worth the 1 Hour drive from Phoenix .
Good course.
Good course. It is in pretty good shape. Pace of play was a little slow.
Golf
The course was in good condition, played with 3 locals had a great time. Pace of play was very good, 3-1/2 hours to play 18. One tee box looked like the rough but other than that, I'll go back again.
Tired Course, not worth the drive
Played course only because midway between Tucson & Phoenix to meet up with a Phoenix friend. Somewhat interesting layout but clearly has seen better days. Tee boxes overgrown and need to be regraded, fairway grass hit & miss, lots of dead or dying trees that need to be removed or pruned, rough very uneven. Thick grass in some places, bare dirt in others. Gave a "fair" rating to Course Conditions only because the greens were in surprisingly very good condition. Nice speed and putts ran very true.
Unfortunate this interesting layout is not well maintained. Not worth the drive from Phoenix or Tucson.
It’s alright
Pace of play was very slow. Greens were in good condition. Nice fluffy sand in the bunkers. Layout and fairways, ok
course has character
DON'T BUY COFFEE IN THE RESTAURANT...TOTAL RIPOFF!!! $4 a cup, worse than Starbucks!
Was told we would have an hour frost delay but they caught up and we only had 10 minute delay, great job starter! No windshields on carts so it was cold.
Most fairways were okay but lots of rough spots. Same with the greens, some needed to be marked ground under repair.
Looking good
The course is looking considerably better since the last time I played. The greens were in Terrific condition and the sand traps have been well maintained. The only downside to the golf course was the fact that the roughs and the fairways were shaggy and who they were in need of mowing. Over all the course played awesome!

Nice track but poor condition.
This course was odd. I liked the layout but the condition of the rough was horrible, fairways long and greens were fuzzy. The overall look of the course was so disappointing because it looks at one time it was a nice track.
Course review
Course was average at best. Pond on one of the fairways had garbage floating in it. The food cabana at the turn had very little choices as they said the ran out of everything at 1:30 in the afternoon. I would not golf this course again.
We apologize for the slower than normal pace of play yesterday. The frost and cold weather didn't help. Typically rounds are 4 - 4.25 hours. We hope you enjoyed the rest of the course and hope to see you in the future!
