Dunes0811
golf course in great condition, but greens still recovering from aeration.
It’s worth the drive!
One of my favorite courses in Phoenix and well worth the drive. It won’t disappoint. Troon never does.
Been a couple of years since I had the pleasure of golfing Southern Dunes, I missed it. Great course, layout, staff, conditions, a great challenge. Its where I go to gauge where my game is at. Only complaint on the day is the greens were in great shape but unusually slow, left a handful of putts just a bit short. Other than that, a great day indeed!
Beautiful Layout, Friendly Staff Part 2
**I would rate this a 5/5 as far as summer conditions goes** Teed off at 6:40am this time. NO ISSUES WITH MOSQUITOS. We finished the round in 4 hours. The greens were punched recently but are healing. Definitely not a deal breaker as many courses in the Valley prep for the change. Can't say enough about how peaceful it is out here. I would recommend bringing a friend to play out here. It's worth it to drive further but you get a challenging course that is a lot of fun. Lots of interesting holes/layout. Don't forget to stop by the Grill for food. This course is a definite do not miss if visiting Phoenix.
Great morning
The course was nice, the GPS was needed and worked well, the pace is as great as our foursome was done in less than 4 hours. As soon as I got home, I booked for next Sunday!
No help keeping pace
Round took 5 hours, which is bad enough but it was 115 degrees out. Two problem groups were obvious but there was no help from staff. You would think with that kind of heat, they would have wanted to get golfers through on time
Great experience
Course is in very reasonable shape for june-july. Greens a lil bumpy but you can absolutely make putts. Service is top notch. Waters available every few holes and cold towels to start are a nice touch. Staff is super friendly and attentive. 5 tees to suit your game well and great scenery. Couldn't ask for much more. Would definitely recommend and it's absolutely worth the drive.
Beautiful desert golf
Fantastic course! Beautiful layout and awesome fairways. The pace of play was pretty good, 3.5 hours for 18 holes is pretty solid in my book. The greens were firm and fast, some bumps from aeration but my putting needs work regardless. Just wish the cart didn't throw a temper tantrum anytime I tried to drive through the desert looking for my ball. The value is fantastic. You'd be an idiot not to book a round.
Great Course
Really enjoy the course. Great layout. Greens will still recovering from being punched but still rolled fairly well. Cannot wait to play again.
Course in Transition
In general, SDGC was in good shape given the summer temperatures. Some tee boxes could use TLC; fairways were firm and somewhat sparse with grass; greens were quite firm and fast; sand traps were inconsistent with level of sand (some needed attention). Pace of play was good until the back 9, when we experienced an additional 40 minutes compared to front. NO mosquitoes were seen throughout the day. Value was good, even with the 1:15 hr. commute.
