Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Eagle Mountain
Beautiful weather, good conditions, but pace of play on back nine (the harder of the two) was slow.
Great course, VIEWS, VIEWS, VIEWS
We teed off at 7:45 and played as a twosome. We didn’t see another player until the 6th hole and that was only because we stopped to chat with the cart girl and another twosome appeared behind us. Turns out one of them worked there and the other one worked at a different course so the played through really quickly. The fairways are pretty much like the other reviews, they tend to slope back to the middle. Not on every hole though. The views were phenomenal . The course conditions were really good. My only knock on it, and this seemed to be the case at all of the courses we played this week, very poor on course directions. What is it with desert courses? They all seem to want you to get lost going to the next hole. Slightly more expensive than the other courses we played, but overall I would say it is worth the extra money just for the views and the layout.
Very playable yet challenging.
Great par 3's and 5's. Lots of elevation changes and good sized greens. Excellent staff and a well managed course which welcomes players and encourages a return visit. Easily a course you can play day after day and enjoy each round. The surrounding homes do not intrude on the holes but provide an interesting backdrop while playing.
The golf course was is great shape.
Very scenic views with great golf layouts on every hole.
Great Resort Course
Very friendly resort course. Tee shot are generally funneled back toward the fairway. The greens were in excellent condition and running at country club speed. Good course for all level players.
Beautiful desert course
Eagle Mountain is an excellent choice for a round of golf in the Scottsdale area and it is high on my list of public/semiprivate places to play. There are many beautiful views of the hills from a course that is in great shape. Although it is a desert course, there is enough rough that the penalty for straying from the fairway isn't excessive. Because of the hilly nature of the course, it may not be a good choice for the most elderly golfers as the walk from the cart path to the green can be quite steep.
Enjoyable experience
Great views and elevations. Fair course
Lovely Course
Great course, few courses in the Phoenix area, or the country for that matter can rival the elevation changes. A few holes were obviously wedged into the canyon/home layout designs, but overall its very good. Condition is excellent.
I have a problem though with its cost structure- its green fees are inflated. It seems to attract mostly novice tourists who cannot stay on the fairways and are limping along looking for their $4 Pro V1s in the desert. It's too hard for them. This seems to have lead to locals abandoning it for better courses nearby, either for layout, pace of play or ambiance, and for lower cost. Worse, it seems fairly obvious that the course is struggling- and perhaps not well managed- they seem to have the unfriendliest staff, especially in the pro shop. I don't get it. And the Marshals keep coming around to push you along, even if it isn't that busy. We got paired with tourists who would tee off three times until they could hit one straight, we're playing the same ball. Not our fault, and distracting. I'm not going to reprimand or babysit the tourists with too much money who don't know how to play golf. As such, this one is off my list.
Fast greens!!!
Great views and challenging. Greens killed me, managed to 3 putt 4 times on the front nine before I got the hang of the pace. Lots of deceptive breaks.
Punched greens w/no warning
Staff was very good and friendly. The course was almost empty because of threat of rain.
We got a GREAT deal on golf now so that made it excellent. A lot of the bunkers had standing water in them because of recent rain.
The only problem was that we were not made aware of the greens being punched (more like scored) for formalizer absorption. They should tell you when you are paying that the greens are like that!!!
Forgiving couse
Great fun to play slightly off center shots from tee are usually caught by the banks of the fairway.
Elevation changes make a picturesque course and add to the enjoyment.
Spray Painted course
They did not over seed but just used green spray paint on the fairways. You are not allowed to take the cart out of the rough as it might pickup the paint. Your shoes will have green bottoms. Not what you want for $135. Wait till spring!
Fun in the cold
Lots of fun on a tough day for golf. The food is amazing! Not as lush as others in the valley, but the greens were great. Can't wait to come back
eagle mountain needs to improve
Not happy about the value for the money.
Course was not in good condition
Overseeding was not indicated
Excellent Eagle Mountain
Excellent course very good condition especially the greens. Stunning views and house all the way round the course. I got the round for $48 which is a steal much better value than the Uk.
Scenic golf at its best!
Played the Eagle Mountain as the last round of this vacation and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great views on almost all of the holes, elevation changes and varied layouts all around, this course is simply fantastic. A few of the holes are rather tricky, but overall the fairways are wide and keep the ball in; in other words, the fun kind of challenge.
The course conditions were top notch and the greens were fast but fair and receptive of approach shots.
Just 2 really small things that might be worth improving:
-One hole (can't remember the number) is a dogleg to the left with houses on top of the hill on the left. Seems like this design could be adjusted, nobody likes a risk of hitting a house.
-Although the distances are well marked all around, an In-cart GPS might be a good investment since all the other Fountain Hills courses seem to have them.
But overall, a great, fun, beautiful course to play, my personal favorite of the week, and I will definitely be back on my next trip to PHX.
awesome layout and spectacular views.
Every hole was well thought out. Plays to all skill levels. Woman friendly too.
A really nice, relaxing day playing at a nice course.
It was nice getting back to playing an Arizona course after being away from the game and Arizona for 2 years. Unbeknownst to me, as a single, I was paired up with 2 lovely, professional, mature women, both who played a nice game. I found the overall condition of the course to be good, a nice challenge after being away from the game. The fairways were wide, greens were in good condition and the speed of the greens were acceptable. I enjoyed the scenery, some of the interesting holes and the different lies. I also found the green fees to be good for the time of the year, the quality and condition of the course. I will definitely play the course again when I return to Arizona..
Eagle Mountain Nov 9 2015
Eagle Mountain is a great course. The variety of play is exceptional. The greens were in superb condition. The 2015 over seeding turned out very well. I have always found the staff friendly and customer oriented. I play the course several times a year and I have a favorable experience. This is not a course for the beginning golfer, however those with a modest handicap will enjoy the play.
