Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Unputtable greens
Course is stressed out. Lots of bare spots in fairways and around greens. Very sad to see the course in this condition. The greens are unputtable There is not much grass on them and they have a ton of sand fill. The staff was friendly. This used to be a top notch course, it has a great layout and is fun to play when there is grass on it. It was not fun to play this time around. I did shoot 2 over par so this is not a bad review just because I didn't play well. It's an honest review from a good player
So much to love, so much to not.
This is one of my favorite tracks. Great views, great holes, elevation changes, some great greens. IF you can get it in good shape, this is probably one of the best courses in Phx area. Unfortunately, it's been a little beat-up for a number of months now.
Course conditions aside, this is still a great play - we minimized the impact of the bare-spots by playing the cracked-dirt in the fairways as GUR.
Unfortunately, it feels like some of the staff here are getting a little jaded. Pro shop guys were great, but that's about it. We even had the range-starter "get into it" with us for not being prepared to tee-off EARLY - my buddy arrived about 15 minutes before our teetime and wanted to loosen up on the range (not really hit, just warm-up the muscles) and the starter demanded we head over to the 1st tee (a 1-minute ride from the range) 8 minutes early, because he "always calls people over 8 minutes early". When I said we'd head over in 5, he barked "everyone else wants to play today!", like us not being ready early was in some way inconsiderate of the other golfers. I informed him we'd be there on time. Sure enough, after my buddy's 5-minute stretch and warm up, we headed over to the first tee and teed off 2 minutes early. And ran into a train-wreck of a 2.5 hour front 9.
If you want to show consideration towards your paying customers, I recommend not yelling at them on the range and giddying-up the pace of play on the course. The back 9 was better - but given we waited on EVERY SHOT on EVERY HOLE on the front 9, that's faint praise.
fairways
fairways were in rough shape, after a nice drive in the fairway, you had to hit your second shot for really bad fairway lie.
Excellent
This was a great experience, have always wanted to play here. Well worth it. My group actually arrived early and they allowed us to head out early. Towels to keep cool and cups for water in the cart. Great course definitely will be back to play again
Great Track
Very scenic and challenging. The greens are extremely undulated and paying attention to pin locations on approach is crucial. With fairways and greens in "valleys", you tend to have to do a fair amount of strenuous walking. All in all, a good course and well worth the price.
Fun and Challenging with scenic views
A lot of elevation changes, with great views. Not good for a handicap player as a lot of steep walks to the greens from the cart paths. Summer conditions.
Greens are large and very undulating.
Fun and different course to play. Great views.
dangerous round of golf
After waiting years to finally play this golf course I was left disappointed. The starter ushered people off the first tee way to fast as the hole is blind so you can't see the group in front of you. We almost hit a player but we're told we must hit. We had a playing partner get hit by a drive on the same hole. We had to wait on every hole which is ok but on another hole the ranger made me hit which I then flew my drive over the group in front of me. I then got a lecture from another ranger for doing so. The cart service also stopped players in blind spots adding to the danger. I finally picked up and left after hole 15 because I was being pressured again to hit while people were only 250 yards out. Scary experience.
July golf
our morning round play was fast and staff was very attentive with water and cold towels. Greens are tough but true. we will definitely come back to see if we can improve our score.
Love the lay out , veiws.
Greens great good roll , in nice shape, tee boxes very good. fairway conditions fair to poor very thin grass a lot of thin dying areas of grass...
Nice Course!
This course was our second 18 in the middle of June so we may have enjoyed ourselves a bit more, but still a nice course. We were dragging you know what by the 36th hole :)
For summer AZ golf the course was in very good shape. Greens were in fantastic shape with enough elevation changes that you really had to think through the putts.
Plenty of water to drink on the course and it was COLD a big plus in the summer. Cart person was around often and no hard up sell, all we wanted was ice and it was delivered with a smile. Each cart had a towel and at the end of the course, they gave you a frozen mango scented towel to really cool down; a nice touch.
The only downside was for the money and since this is connected to a resort they should provide a yardage book. We played Desert Canyon on our first 18 of the day and they gave each a yardage book. For many of the holes on Eagle Mountain a yardage book would have been a value add. This was the only reason I dropped our rating from Excellent to Good. So if you don't care about a yardage book, consider our rating as Excellent.,
Undulating course
Good quality course however I prefer near level playing conditions. Good drives just slightly off line can result in a second shot made difficult with the ball placed on an incline.
Great value.
Always a treat to play @ Eagle Mtn. Course was in great shape for the summer. Its nice to play a course where you can miss left and right and still have the ball come back into play. Greens were rolling well, just wish people would fix ball marks!
best course in az
we played this for our birthdays again, myself and bob and my son, they working hard to get the fairways in best shape, otherwise no problems and nice people and enjoyed the day for sure.
Sunday's round
My usual Sunday group wanted to play Eagle Mountain as we had not in some time. Course conditions were OK to good with obvious summer stress. We always enjoy the play here and will certainly return and recommend!
Nice course especially on a hot day
Played on a Saturday hen it was 109 in Phoenix. It felt hot but comfortable here. Friendly staff. Good practice facilitates. Course in very good condition for summer. Greens were excellent.
Greens excellent -- but challenging!
The course was in very good shape. The greens have lots of breaks, so you may have to play it several times to get the hang of them
Excellent layout
Excellent layout with great greens but fairways are in average to poor shape especially given the course's rep. Played with 2 other singles and had to wait on every hole for the foursome in front of us. Got a great deal on Golfnow but will not be returning to play course again soon because of the above items.
Gorgeous landscapes, and great variety.
Had great experience again and Eagle Mountain. Has to be one of the best values in the area for overall golf experience.
Fun track
Fun challenging course, great shape for summer. Only saw beverage cart once tho and had no sandwiches and the turn was closed so was a little hungry. But overall will play there again
Great for cost
Great conditions for the cost... Fairways are a lil rough right now.. But overall definite value for cost
