Great day at Eagle Mountain! Photo submitted by uOQDZ5699OQ on 09/26/2012
Record Breaking Heat Didn't Stop Me! 116
Although, there were many areas in the fairways that were being resodded, this course was in great condition. As a single I was able to cruse through the first 7 holes. A little slow after that but well worth the wait. Panoramic view are incredible.
Even though it was the hottest day on record, there was still a nice breeze to keep you sane. The scented "Mango" ice soaked towels were also a plus.
Sad Shape
I have played here several times before, but this is the worst condition I have ever seen this course. Fairways were torn up, are spots, burned with attempts to re-sod areas. Greens were burned, slow and very bumpy. The bunkers are the best part of the course. I hope they get this course fixed, it is a nice layout, but it needs a ton of work to get it back into condition.
Would not recommend
The course should have been closed because of its condition. There was no drink cart and it was 105 degrees. The merchandise in the pro shop was highly overpriced. We will not be going back to this course
amazing but difficult course
Be prepared to lose some balls on this one. Great views on the course. Only problem was no beverage cart on the hottest day of the year so far.
HOT PRICE-HOT DAY
WE HAVE PLAYED EAGLE MTN. IN THE PAST AND ALWAYS ENJOYED THE COURSE FOR ITS BEAUTY, LAYOUT AND DESIGN AND ITS CHALLENGE. ALL OF THE ABOVE STILL THE SAME!
THE COURSE CONDITIONS WERE A BIT ROUGH; A LOT OF GROUND UNDER REPAIR ON MANY FAIRWAYS. GREENS WERE CUT DOWN AND SANDY WHICH MADE THEM UNSTOPPABLE AND UNTRUE-A DOUBLE WHAMMY TO DEAL WITH.
WE ARRIVED 1 HR EARLY AND WAS TOLD WE COULD GO OUT WHENEVER WE WERE READY, JUST CHECK IN WITH THE STARTED. WENT TO THE RANGE TO HIT A FEW BALLS JUST TO LOOSEN UP A BIT. THE STARTED FOUND US AND 2 OTHER GROUPS OF 2 AT THE RANGE AND INDICATED SEVERAL TIMES THAT WE WERE ALL CLEAR TO TEE OFF. WITH ONLY A HANDFUL OF GOLFERS ON THE ENTIRE COURSE, WHAT WAS THE HURRY? HE WASNT RUDE BUT JUST PERSISTENT TO GET US ALL ON OUR WAY QUICKLY.
OVERALL, WE HAD A GOOD TIME, THE HUMIDITY WAS HEAVY DUE TO THE SEASONAL TIMEFRAME AND THE ADDITION OF THE COURSE BEING SOAKED OVERNIGHT AND WATERED DURING THE DAY.
WE WILL BE BACK; ALWAYS ENJOY THE CHALLENGE, HOPE THEY GET THE FAIRWAYS AND GREENS BACK IN SHAPE.
Great views
I was impressed at the condition of the course for mid-July...Greens were dry but rolled true. I'll be back but do not play on Monday unless you want to play the back 9 twice, they close the front for maintenance I guess
not playable
This is normally one of my favorite course in North Scottsdale. However is not its normal condition at this time.
Green is slow and bumpy never hold the line. Fairway has lots of bare spots or too much water. Even considering it is summer the condition is worse than what is expected.
Give it few more weeks but skip it for more.
Arizona Experience
If you would like to experience the beauty of Arizona's mountains and city views while playing a really fun golf course.....this is the one. The course is well manicured and fairly healthy for July. A short 35 minute drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Would recommend this course as a Must Play for Arizona.
don't play in the summer
The course is in deplorable shape. Greens were burnt out and where there was grass the ball acted like an EKG machine. Fairways were either burnt out or mud. Should have figured what we were getting into when I asked for a yardage book/card and the starter said we only hand those out when we charge a few bucks more. Bottom line, they don't care about local summer play so spend your dollars elsewhere. Played Las Sendas a couple of days earlier, and besides the greens being slow the course was in immaculate shape...
Great dessert style course
Nice layout and practice facilities. Greens had recently been aerated so the greens didn't roll as smooth as I expected.
Great design, enjoy the views
2nd time I've played this course. This time with my 16yr old, long ball hitting, Grandson. He was over the top impressed. We enjoyed the layout, nothing flat, not even the greens, but certainly playable. Grounds crew were working on a few brown spots on some of the fairways with GUR. Didn't interfere with play. Rates are exceptional on GolfNow Hot Deals. But still worth the value at regular GolfNow rates. Service & food was excellent. Sometimes we just take guest up there for breakfast or coffee to enjoy the views and pop over to Fountain Hill to see the fountain display. Hard not to enjoy this part of Arizona, even in the summer & monsoon season.
Great course
we played back nine twice due to some work being done on first nine with summer rates being low its hard not to play , its challenging course with lots of elevations but gorgeous views and good condition overall
Unputtable greens
Course is stressed out. Lots of bare spots in fairways and around greens. Very sad to see the course in this condition. The greens are unputtable There is not much grass on them and they have a ton of sand fill. The staff was friendly. This used to be a top notch course, it has a great layout and is fun to play when there is grass on it. It was not fun to play this time around. I did shoot 2 over par so this is not a bad review just because I didn't play well. It's an honest review from a good player
So much to love, so much to not.
This is one of my favorite tracks. Great views, great holes, elevation changes, some great greens. IF you can get it in good shape, this is probably one of the best courses in Phx area. Unfortunately, it's been a little beat-up for a number of months now.
Course conditions aside, this is still a great play - we minimized the impact of the bare-spots by playing the cracked-dirt in the fairways as GUR.
Unfortunately, it feels like some of the staff here are getting a little jaded. Pro shop guys were great, but that's about it. We even had the range-starter "get into it" with us for not being prepared to tee-off EARLY - my buddy arrived about 15 minutes before our teetime and wanted to loosen up on the range (not really hit, just warm-up the muscles) and the starter demanded we head over to the 1st tee (a 1-minute ride from the range) 8 minutes early, because he "always calls people over 8 minutes early". When I said we'd head over in 5, he barked "everyone else wants to play today!", like us not being ready early was in some way inconsiderate of the other golfers. I informed him we'd be there on time. Sure enough, after my buddy's 5-minute stretch and warm up, we headed over to the first tee and teed off 2 minutes early. And ran into a train-wreck of a 2.5 hour front 9.
If you want to show consideration towards your paying customers, I recommend not yelling at them on the range and giddying-up the pace of play on the course. The back 9 was better - but given we waited on EVERY SHOT on EVERY HOLE on the front 9, that's faint praise.
fairways
fairways were in rough shape, after a nice drive in the fairway, you had to hit your second shot for really bad fairway lie.
Excellent
This was a great experience, have always wanted to play here. Well worth it. My group actually arrived early and they allowed us to head out early. Towels to keep cool and cups for water in the cart. Great course definitely will be back to play again
Great Track
Very scenic and challenging. The greens are extremely undulated and paying attention to pin locations on approach is crucial. With fairways and greens in "valleys", you tend to have to do a fair amount of strenuous walking. All in all, a good course and well worth the price.
Fun and Challenging with scenic views
A lot of elevation changes, with great views. Not good for a handicap player as a lot of steep walks to the greens from the cart paths. Summer conditions.
Greens are large and very undulating.
Fun and different course to play. Great views.
dangerous round of golf
After waiting years to finally play this golf course I was left disappointed. The starter ushered people off the first tee way to fast as the hole is blind so you can't see the group in front of you. We almost hit a player but we're told we must hit. We had a playing partner get hit by a drive on the same hole. We had to wait on every hole which is ok but on another hole the ranger made me hit which I then flew my drive over the group in front of me. I then got a lecture from another ranger for doing so. The cart service also stopped players in blind spots adding to the danger. I finally picked up and left after hole 15 because I was being pressured again to hit while people were only 250 yards out. Scary experience.
July golf
our morning round play was fast and staff was very attentive with water and cold towels. Greens are tough but true. we will definitely come back to see if we can improve our score.
