About Omni Tucson National Resort

Omni Tucson National Resort is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, having formerly hosted the PGA Tour. The resort has just 128 guest rooms and suites, making it a more boutique experience compared to some of the larger Tucson golf resorts. There are two very different, 18-hole golf courses onsite. The original Catalina Course opened in 1962 with the resort and is more classically parkland in nature. The Sonoran Course is newer, designed by Tom Lehman, and more of a desert-style layout. Guests can dine at casual Legends Bar & Grill or enjoy fine dining at Bob's Steak & Chop House. Off the golf course, guests can enjoy lighted tennis course, spa, 24-hour fitness center and sand volleyball courts.

Good resort course

Beautiful scenery of the Tucson area. Played next to longest tee box for 14 handicapper and scored close to expected score. Course was in great shape and would play again. Some of areas are not as finished as expected for a resort course - cart path is dirt instead of cement in areas. Did not have the usual cart guys to clean and deliver clubs to car - I could drive right to car and do myself - which I prefer!

Parkland course in Desert Country

The Catalina Course at Tucson National was a welcome relief from desert and rocks on a golf trip to Arizona. The course was a little wet, which was strange but generally played OK. It is very flat and fairly unremarkable but was a pleasure to play (and not lose so many balls). Nice finishing hole where you have to jump over water twice. The facilities were also very agreeable. One minor point was the directions to the course, which were wrong.

Quirky layout

The course conditions were superb. The greens were quick and true and everything was lush. The staff was extremely friendly. I did find many of the holes to be quirky. Standing on the tee it was often difficult to get a decent feel for the hole. One of the holes goes straight up a hill. The views were great however.
"Condition of the course top, layout meh!"

Superb Greens

Course was in great shape. Greens were running fast and true but received a ball very well. Will be back to play again!

Challenging yet Forgiving!

This is a relatively classic desert golf course with one refreshing twist: It's actually forgiving. The fairways are nice and wide open on most holes with ample room to land the "oops" tee shot. However, this is still target golf and requires course management in order to play well. I am roughly an 18 handicap at present (quite higher out here than FL) and I shot a 19 over 89.

The course is in outstanding condition and the greens roll very nicely. The fairways are plush and so much so that I struggled to get roll out on my drives with the exception of downhill fairways. The greens are receptive and a player with good ball striking will be able to stop or spin the ball back. BEWARE though, for Arizona golf the greens are faster than you'd expect and you'll blast a putt by if you aren't careful.

As far as value, it was my first time playing there (Sonoran course) and while i'd pay more to play it than your average public course, I find it hard to justify what they charge, even through golf now. Granted that it IS season around here and it IS a resort but 80-90 bucks for a round is too rich for my blood.

All in all, it was a great day and I will go back, though I might wait for season to end unless I can get a cheaper rate.

A must-play for any serious golfer.

Easy to see why this course (Catalina) has such a great history and reputation. Rounding into shape after over-seeding (cart path-only when we played); the greens have a ways to go. BTW, the mounding and bunkering around the greens are one of the most distinctive features of this course - better bring your "A (short) game." Would be nice to have a "combo" option between the red (5700) and white (6600) tees.

Great course and facilities with great people

This was the first day for Catalina after over-seeding. The tee boxes and fairways were awesome. The greens still need a little time to fill in but otherwise excellent

Cart path only (reseeding). Excellent condition and the layout is very fair. It was very windy so more difficult than usual. Would like to replay when not so windy

Good course, Good Value for October!

Very good layout...former PGA tour site, so it was challenging for us. Fairways, tees and greens were in nice shape. The bunkers, however, were horrible. Most were hard dirt....no sand, so it was super easy to blade a shot!

Traditional style course, extremely well maintained

Traditional style course that's a pleasant change from desert style courses. Course condition is excellent, greens are semi-fast, but sufficiently soft to hold the ball. Fairways are lush and generous.
