About Omni Tucson National Resort

Omni Tucson National Resort is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, having formerly hosted the PGA Tour. The resort has just 128 guest rooms and suites, making it a more boutique experience compared to some of the larger Tucson golf resorts. There are two very different, 18-hole golf courses onsite. The original Catalina Course opened in 1962 with the resort and is more classically parkland in nature. The Sonoran Course is newer, designed by Tom Lehman, and more of a desert-style layout. Guests can dine at casual Legends Bar & Grill or enjoy fine dining at Bob's Steak & Chop House. Off the golf course, guests can enjoy lighted tennis course, spa, 24-hour fitness center and sand volleyball courts.

The greens were in tremendous shape. Areas around the green were well manicured, traps were taken care of on a consistent basis.

Overall, the course was a real treat. Finding a deal on Golfnow to play here was very nice as well being a college kid on a budget. The course was in great shape and was a lot of fun to play. The staff was very friendly and accommodating even though we were not staying at the resort. I would play here again without a doubt.

Top Notch Tucson Course

My first time playing at Tucson National. Course was in phenomenal shape even several months after over-seeding. Not 1 single complaint besides a slow group in front of us. Gave us time to hit extra putts. Worth every dollar! Dont forget to stop by Legends Bar & Grill afterwards!

There were openings in a Charity Outing that did not fill up so we booked 2 tee times.

Best course I've played in Tucson area this spring. Fairways and rough green edge to edge, traps raked with real sand, greens had no brown or bare spots or infusions of foreign grass. All of our putts rolled true no bounces, bumps etc. Plus course has some spectacular vies of Catalinas and even downtown Tucson. A challenge. We played Whites. If I played again I'd play the White/Red combo. It was a scramble with a shotgun start so pace was probably slower than a normal round. If I see $$$$ like this for Omni I'll book in a heartbeat.

Fun Round

The value was great. Paid $53 on GolfNow. Played relatively quick for a threesome - 3 1/2 hours. The course was in good shape. The rough off the fairway is pretty burnt out, but the greens rolled nicely. The Sonoran Course isn't too difficult as long as you keep it in play. There's a nice mixture of some challenging holes and somewhere you will have birdie opportunities. It was a very enjoyable round of golf.

Scenic course in good condition

Did not particularly enjoy this course...could be that it did not suit our style of play, could be the level of difficulty or it could be the players behind us who kept hitting into us (almost striking one of our group), even though we were keeping up with the group ahead of us and could not play any faster! The course was in good condition although not as good as Ventana Canyon which we played earlier in the week. Greens were consistent. Starter was very friendly and helpful.

NICE TRADITIONAL LAYOUT

Long par fives and medium to long par threes combine for a 6600 yd par 73 from the whites.Fairway bunkers and well protected greens make for a challenging time on certain holes.Water also comes into play and makes for difficult tee shots on three holes.Green were small buy very receptive to approach shots of all lengths.Overall a very enjoyable round and would play again.

Challenging, well maintained, but a little pricey

This is the second time I have played this course and both times it ate me up...but for different reasons. Last year, I just wasn't striking the ball well. This year, it was bunkers and putting. Lots and lots of bunkers, in addition to the usual challenges of a desert-style course. It was clearly the best maintained of the 5 courses I've played so far this year. Even the sand in the bunkers was appropriately soft and the bunkers were raked. It's just a tough course---landing space is at a minimum, although the fairways aren't really all that narrow. The greens were tough and hard to read. Nothing unfair here---just a good challenge. I'd definitely return, although I need to snap up the better listings on GolfNow. They go fast!!

Not worth the High Green Fee's

They are fine and challenging courses, but for the money, there are several others in the area, that are equal or better, for less money! Great Driving, Putting and Chipping Range's, and a "nice" courses, but vertainly not worth the $$$$.

This course is challenging, well bunkered, smooth greens, and hilly.

Bring your "A" game from either the Combo or back tees. Every tee shot is going to be a challenge to stay out of the fairway bunkers. Greens are well bunkered, fast and quite contoured which equals potential three putt situations. Probably the most scenic course in the Tucson area.

Be prepared for small greens

Regular price for a round of golf here is absurd for the quality of the course. This is not Dove Mountain.

Fair, Challenging, Consistent

Unlike many challenging courses (i.e Dove Mountain), Tucson National is very up-front about its challenges. Also, unlike many resort courses, this course is set up to challenge you off the tee just as much as around the greens. Well-placed bunkers are a huge part of that; so are several water hazards. Still, there are birdie holes out there, especially on the back nine. Course is in great shape, and greens are consistent. A must-play course if you're in Tucson for a while.

Fantastic course, great service staff, reasonably priced

I have golfed in several states as well as a couple courses in the Carribean and a couple in Mexico and of all of them, I feel that this is by far the best course that I have played.

Great course in great condition

The track, while challenging wasn't the target golf that is sometimes the feature of desert golf. It was in immaculate shape and the rough wasn't punishing at all. The fairways were wide enough to allow the slightly off-line shot to find green grass, but not so wide that you didn't have to think about the shot. Also, the course yardage book was of immense help in allowing correct shot placement and club selection. Definitely going back again.

Old school Tucson golf, but still the design holds up well

This is a very traditional layout without a bunch of frills in the design. The greens are in good condition this winter. The 9th and 18th holes are still very tough tests of golf. With a good Golfnow rate, it's clearly worth the money.

Nice layout and in great condition relative to most of the courses we've playing Tucson area this year.

I always enjoy playing the Tucson National courses. The atmosphere at the resort is great and the course is kept in very nice condition. This time, the maintenance workers were a plague as it seemed they were on every tee box we used, but I suppose that had something to do with the frost delay.

Typical resort course, great shape.

The course was closed for most of the day, the day we played, due to heavy rains. We asked if we could reschedule and was told no, We even offered to pay up front and come back another day, no go. They told us we could go hit some balls and tee off when we were ready. There was no marshall, starter, it was a free for all at the first tee. It was cart path only which made for a very slow round. Needless to say we were dissapointed that the staff could not be a bit more accommodating considering the weather, conditions, pace of play. Rain checks don't apply here, luckly is does not rain a whole lot in AZ!!!
