About Omni Tucson National Resort

Omni Tucson National Resort is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, having formerly hosted the PGA Tour. The resort has just 128 guest rooms and suites, making it a more boutique experience compared to some of the larger Tucson golf resorts. There are two very different, 18-hole golf courses onsite. The original Catalina Course opened in 1962 with the resort and is more classically parkland in nature. The Sonoran Course is newer, designed by Tom Lehman, and more of a desert-style layout. Guests can dine at casual Legends Bar & Grill or enjoy fine dining at Bob's Steak & Chop House. Off the golf course, guests can enjoy lighted tennis course, spa, 24-hour fitness center and sand volleyball courts.

Traditional park like setting.

The Catalina course at Omni Tucson National provides a wonderful challenge as you play the tree lined fairways. This course has tremendous history and the staff keeps it in great condition. The greens were soft and a little fast...the speed of the greens changed a bit during the round as they dried out in the afternoon. For the most part, the fairways were in good condition with only a few dry areas. All of the staff, from greeters, to Pro Shop and Starter were all friendly and very helpful. After dropping off my bag and going to park, they brought my cart out to me in the parking lot - have not received that level of service in a long while. The course has cold water on just about every other hole so we had plenty of opportunity to keep hydrated. Over-all a very good experience.

Nice place to play

There are two courses at Omni Tucson National. The Catalina course is a traditional course like encountered in the midwest with tree lined fairways. The Sonoran course is more of a desert style course. Both are very nice. The public alternates courses with members on opposite days. They have a great practice facility and the spa is very nice.

Great course.

I have played this course several times and enjoyed my rounds. It is keep in great condition. The staff was excellent. I would like to play this course more often but winter rates are to expensive. I will return next summer more often when the rates become reasonable again. This is my favorite course in Tucson and one of the top courses I have played in California and Michigan. This is what a golf course should be.

The Catalina course was very challenging and greens were fast

I played the Catalina course and found the holes to be challenging and over all in great shape. We played just before overseeding occured so a few places were being dried out. The greens were fast and very true which made putting nice. The staff was generally friendly and we had good service from the drinks cart lady.

No where near as nice as when the tournament was there

Course had very thin fairways (mutliple dirt spots, ungrown areas, etc). Greens were decent, but slow. Just very disappointing to read such great reviews online and remembering the PGA events being there and then showing up for that. Would not return unless major course improvements.

the Catalina course at Tucson National is a true championship course

this is an excellent design requiring very exact approach shots to mostly elevated greens. enjoyable to all handicaps, it is a true test of golf for lower handicappers.this course will test everyone and require them to step of their game if they want to score well.

I played this course 35 years ago when it was THE top rated course in Tucson. In my opinion it still is.

I was a summer visitor to Tucson this year. I went college and lived in Tucson for 16 years in the 1970s & 80s. Back then if you could get on the course yolu were lucky. When you did it was THE best in Tucson. You always wanted to come back. I have not played the course in 35 years. Tucson National has added a new 18 holes since. Both courses are supurb. I played the course whenever I could while in Tucson. The Catalina course has change three holes on the front nine but in my opinion the changes make the course better. 35 years ago, #15 was the only 600+ yard par 5 on the PGA tour. We played it three times this summer. Technology does make it a little easier but it is still a monster. A birdie there is definately a skin in our game. #18 is still the signature hole of the course. It is just one super hole. It takes four good shots to make par. The slightest miss will not cut it. A miss results in bogie or worse. The summer rates for Tucson National are unbelievable. 25 years ago we paid $40 to play. I paid $20 to $30 dollars a round to play National this summer. What a treat.
