Poor Condition
i was completely surprised by how poor the condition the greens played. It is not worthy of playing.
BRUTAL GREENS
THE GREENS FOR A REASON UNBEKNOWNST TO ME WERE JUST TERRIBLE. I’LL SAY THIS THE BACK WAS IN BETTER SHAPE THAN THE FRONT.
IM SURE THERES A GOOD REASON FOR THIS BUT NO STAFF MEMBER MENTIONED IT TO US.
I LIKE THE LAYOUT HOWEVER THAT WASNT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING, DISAPPOINTED.I LAST VISITED IN 23’ AND I CANT REMEMBER SUCH POOR GREENS.
HOPEFULLY THEY GET A GRIP ON THIS.
Everything great but greens are in rough condition
The course is beautiful and has a fun, challenging layout. The tee boxes, fairways and roughs were all in good condition. Unfortunately the greens were pretty awful. Several spots with no grass, a little muddy and sticky and really difficult to gauge the speed
Terrible conditions
Bad greens, fairways and tee boxes. Very friendly staff. Okay practice tee.
Paint
As always Orange Trees staff was awesome, the course however was the opposite. Fall overseed was a huge failure, to say the fairways and greens were a little thin on rye grass is a huge understatement. The course was extremely wet, obviously trying to grow more grass because they first attempt did not work. The fact that they try to make it up with dyes and paint really sucks when you trash a pair of expensive golf shoes because of this. Mother nature should make your overseas schedule, not a GM. Better luck next year
Don't Paint the Fairway
We played here on Sunday 12/08. Upon arriving, everything was great, however, after we tee'd off on hole 1, we noticed our balls were covered in green as were my new golf shoes. Come to find out they dye or paint some of the fairways and that coloring leaks all over you and your equipment and stains everything it touches. Many of the greens where also in terrible shape. They were patchy, ugly and not very smooth to putt on. After speaking with the marshal, he was super nice but he did confirm they were dealing with some issues that arose after annual overseeding and they are aware that the greens and fairways were not in very good shape. So I get that stuff happens sometimes when dealing with grass, however, if they know it's in a terrible shape, why are they still charging over $100 to play. They should at least be letting people know what to expect so they can make the decision if they want to spend the money and play there.
Pace Slow
It took f4.5 hours to play 15 hol- it would have been 5.5 hours if we finished but hole 16 was backed up so we decided to call it a day - staff very friendly- course in poor shape- so paying what we paid definitely not a value proposition
Great place crappy greens
This place is totally awesome except the greens are all jacked up. Some kind of fungus or something but very little grass on them.
Orange Tree
I have played this course 3 times before and it always was in good shape. But this time it looks like they are losing some of their greens from probably over watering. I noticed the same conditions at two other courses I played.
Fungus on some greens
Upon arrival, we were told that a fungus had infected several greens. They told us that 2 of them were pretty bad and the others were improving. I think 4 of them were pretty bad and the others were playable. This fungus will take quite a while to get rid of, so be aware of this condition and only pay what you deem appropriate for this problem. This is the high season in Scottsdale and greens fees are usually ridiculously overpriced.
As for the rest of the course, it was in good shape. A couple of tee boxes could use a little love, but overall nothing to get upset about.
The staff were friendly and courteous, except the starter. who tried to get us to tee off early. We showed up early so we could warm up. Ten minutes before our tee time he was trying to rush us to the tee box. We were just heading to the putting green. I told him our tee time was in 10 minutes and we proceeded to practice putt. I will not be rushed.
Good, but greens were poor
Played at 12:30 pm on a Wednesday and didn’t run into any other golfers so we played in 3 hours. Tees, fairways and sand traps were good but the greens had lots of dead spots, were full of ball marks (slow to heal) and were very slow. Maybe in a few weeks the greens will be filled in. We got a great rate so putting up with the greens was ok, but I wouldn’t want to pay the full rate.
The greens are in trouble
I returned to this course because it is beautiful and fun. Unfortunately the greens are in trouble and it was not worth putting
Greens
Most of the greens were in rough shape. Almost every green had ball marks (no golfers over time fixing them——not sure why). For $125 per person per round, I would have thought the course would have been in better condition.
Rough shape
Paid too much money for BAD greens. Lots of kill on greens and due to this golfers don’t repair ballmarks so the greens are pummelled.
If golf course is aware of the greens they should not be posting their rounds on Golfnow without discounted rating.
Average, okay value.
Course was fully booked and pace was too slow. Conditions were not great as the greens were bumpy through the front 9. Layout and course was otherwise good.
