Quintero Golf Club
About Quintero Golf Club
Quintero Golf Club, located about an hour northwest of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, is one of the most scenic golf courses in the Valley of the Sun. While generally a daily-fee course, it does have a small handful of casita rentals for stay-and-play packages. These casitas, located within the community's Entrada properties, feature two large bedrooms with full bathrooms each, and a private patio with the option for outdoor dining. The executive Loft has a large living area with pool table. Guests have access to the Quintero pool, jacuzzi and grilling area. Located in the Hieroglyphic Mountains, Quintero Golf Club was designed by Rees Jones and is a popular pick for the best golf course in the valley. Within 15 minutes is the Lake Pleasant Marina and Scorpion Bay Marina.Facts

Hole 9 (I think) Photo submitted by azwilli on 09/27/2012
Luv Quintero, but need a marshall.
Love playing Quintero, never disappoints. One thing I did notice when standing on the first tee box was that the fairways were a little browner than normal, probably due to the transitioning to Bermuda grass. Still an outstanding round, front nine is more scoreable than the back nine. Need to make sure placement of shots, or else you will be doing lots of desert laterals.
Greens were hard and firm and running at about a 12 or 13, so the group in front of us was having a lot of trouble, seemed to spend a lot of time on the greens . Would have been good to have a marshall out, as what should’ve been a four hour and 10 minute round, stretched out to 445. Group in front was at least a hole and a half behind on the back nine. Sure they may had fun, but when you had to wait for every shot, and you could see the whole number 10 par 5 completely open in front of them, and hear the group on number 11 green, it never got better.
Long par 5 middle of back nine still on tee ordering drinks from cart girl and no one on hole in front. Need to do better on that Quintero!
Favourite course!
Best course! Challenging desert golf. Worth the drive.
Brutally Slow Play
Extremely slow play - over 5 hours. Poor conditions. I got paired up with 3 a-holes. There are better places to play where you can in 4.5 hours. Avoid this course
Beautiful course
Definitely the best course I’ve played. All 18 holes were unique from one another. Staff is great, grass was green, weather was great. It’s worth the drive, check it out.
Greens / bunkers need some attention
Overall track is in great shape with exception of greens and bunkers.
For the top dollar rack rate they are asking the greens are in poor condition compared to others in the area. Lots of dead spots and weak growth dead spot areas. I think they are a different type of grass to those in Scottsdale which may be the problem. Did not seem to affect putts much but visually very disappointing.
Bunkers need some serious maintenance. Grass growing in several bunkers.
Nice course
The course was in great condition. The pace of play was very slow. You have individuals looking for their ball 8 to 10 minutes. Ordered fruit from the restaurant, my sandwich was OK. The bread was old and stale. overall was a good condition.
Unique course. Love the elevation change and narrow fairways. Very challenging greens. Beautiful landscapes. Not much for club house. Hopefully they will be building something in the coming years.
Stay away or BYOS
Huge disappointment! The greens are rock hard and many of the traps are more like gravel pits - if you are looking to waste $400 Bring Your Own Sand! Don’t get sucked into paying this inflated price until they complete the renovation. Too many other great courses in the area.
Stunning views!
One of the best in town
This course is one of my favorites in Scottsdale/Phoenix area. Fairways are reasonably wide with strategic placed bunkers throughout the course. The rough is green and plush, which is rare to find in Arizona. The course layout is epic, with elevation change on every hole and spectacular views. Most of the greens are surrounded by well placed bunkers. The greens are firm and fast. Accuracy off the tee is a big plus here, otherwise you will have a tough day.
Only one complaint, this year the bunkers were awful. They desperately need more new sand in all the bunkers…Especially the green side bunkers. They were almost unplayable.
Horrible pace of play
Worst pace of play in 25+ years of playing golf. We stopped in the pro shop after 4 holes to tell them how slow the course was. They said they were "working" on it...
We quit after only playing 6 holes in 2hrs.
Great time, nice people!
Enjoyed a fun round paired up with a nice group from the midwest. The course is tuff; bring an extra sleeve or two. Free practice range, pace was a little slow but several 200yd par 3's from elevation make for a fun time. Plenty of refreshments, mountain, wildlife views, and yes dueling donkeys, what more can you ask for?
