Quintero Golf Club
About Quintero Golf Club
Quintero Golf Club, located about an hour northwest of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, is one of the most scenic golf courses in the Valley of the Sun. While generally a daily-fee course, it does have a small handful of casita rentals for stay-and-play packages. These casitas, located within the community's Entrada properties, feature two large bedrooms with full bathrooms each, and a private patio with the option for outdoor dining. The executive Loft has a large living area with pool table. Guests have access to the Quintero pool, jacuzzi and grilling area. Located in the Hieroglyphic Mountains, Quintero Golf Club was designed by Rees Jones and is a popular pick for the best golf course in the valley. Within 15 minutes is the Lake Pleasant Marina and Scorpion Bay Marina.Facts

Great Golf Course
This place is spectacular and only complaint was pace of play was 5 hours this time
Wonderful Course
The course is laid out beautifully. It has its challenges, but it is fair. Course was in a great condition. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Best Desert Golf Course Ever Played!
Outstanding golf course! Bring your A game and keep the ball in short grass. Make sure you choose the right tees based on your HCP, wrong tees you could get really frustrated. The greens had a few unfixed ball marks, but other than that ran about a 12 and held all good shots! Number 8 is the hardest par 5 on the planet! All the par 5's are uphill and all the par 3's are downhill with spectacular VIEWS of the desert! Worth the drive and every penny spent! ENJOY!
A Real Treat!
My son and I had the pleasure of playing Quintero while recently vacationing in Phoenix. While there, we played We-Ko-Pa, Wildfire, Troon and Quintero and we both thought Quintero was the best. The condition of the course was phenomenal and the layout was outstanding. The course is full of spectacular views and you'll want to bring your camera, but keep the pace moving! While challenging (and we're both single digit handicappers), the course was very fair and just a great test of golf in some of the most beautiful scenery you'll ever see. The club has very modest amenities and is a bit of a drive, but well worth it. We'll definitely be going back!
Poor management and bad attitudes
Very frustrating when you play a great course that is staffed by unmotivated people with poor attitudes.
Its a lot of money to play here so as a 9 hdcp who has played all around the world, I expect the service to equal the price. Not here.
Get to the first tee and the starter tells us he has run out of guide books (necessary for first time players on this course) - its prime season!!! Next problem was pace of play from second hole on - 3 hours to play the front nine. They did have marshals (we think) but they motored around the course quickly, never stopped to talk or explain. One marshal darted out from the bush just as I was about to hit a tee shot causing an errant shot - no apology just motored on. Finished in 5 hrs 20 min. Complained to the guy who wanted to clean the clubs - told him I dont tip after a 5 hour round - no comment. Complained to the 2 young girls in the pro shop - they had no authority. It appears everyone with authority had left for the day or hid from the customers as many were complaining. You waqnt $179 to play this course - get staff who understand a $179 experience.
Par 3s worth the price of admission
Course conditions were immaculate, played 2 years ago and thought maybe I overhyped it but the fairways & greens were awesome. Holes 6 & 9 are 2 of the best par 3s I have played.
Best advice from starter when choosing a tee is that a significant number of approach shots play uphill so add 100-200 yards to the overall yardage so the 6400 yd tees play closer to 6600 and so on. Our group teed it forward and enjoyed ourselves more especially hitting shorter clubs into very fast greens.
Not as much for food/beverage once on the course as pro shop/restaurant is so far from 1st tee. Great variety of holes, a few shorter par 4s that play uphill. Bring your camera as there are many holes that are worthy ( see below). Bit of a drive and we played during high season but course definitely lives up to rating as a top course in Arizona.
Awesome views- Awesome course
Great course,I would definitely play here again. This course has it all so bring your A game, and don't forget your camera. My only complaint was the long ride to the first tee but it was well worth it. Staff was great and the greens were very fast so beware.
very nice golf experience
Great golf course, perfectly maintained, fantastic views. staff was very friendly, tough greens but not extreme, lots of sand. Want to play it again Regular green fees are above what I am willing to pay but compared to Troon North or other similarly priced courses it is a bargain.
Beautiful and Quiet
First time playing this course and we were not disappointed. The layout is challenging, but as long as you follow the tip sheet and keep in it play off the tee you will be fine. The course is beautiful and quiet, far away from the city. You will immediately notice the lack of ambient noise coming from houses, traffic, and other city noises which was very pleasant. Fairways were nice a short, bunkers were fluffy and easy to hit out of, and greens were fast but predictable. The greens definitely sped up as they dried out. Overall, conditions were excellent. Other than the wonderful course itself, the best part about Quintero is the superior management and employees running the course. This was the most efficiently run course I have ever played. Marshals were all over the course, but were not intrusive, which resulted in our foursome completing our round in 4 hours flat. Great experience, I look forward to playing here again.
Extremely difficult greens
Practice Green is not an indicator of the actual greens on this course. The greens are dry, hard, fast, and very little grass. Rollout is 'masters' like, very difficult. Prepare to be frustrated. Sand is plentiful, but sidewalls are not raked down, so expect some plugged lies. Very scenic courses, nice layout.
Favorite course
Took three other guys to this course and they all loved it. Greens are very fast. Fairways are beautiful. They want to play it again next year. Well worth the trip if you are in the PHX area. I hope it does not get filled up with houses around the course. Highly recommend.
Away from anywhere
A really great golf experience Very nice course. good vistas and interesting holes.
A gem in the high Sonoran desert
What a beautiful place. No hassle entering this private community, having pre-paid, we were welcomed as members. Nice driving range and practice facilities. The course was difficult for us, mainly because we've never played it. Greens were fast and true. Rangers kept pace of play reasonable considering it was mostly tourists. Tip card on how to play holes was OK, but not nearly in depth enough. Wish they would have told us if you wander even a little off some invisible predetermined boundary for each hole with your cart, it will shut down!! Overall a great golf experience. Bring lots of balls.
Over-Aggressive Ranger Spoiled Otherwise Perfect Day
Beautiful course, beautiful day. Play moved along at a decent pace. We had two women in our foursome, both decent golfers, but they had to hit 3 or 4 times on the long par 4s and par 5s, so it took a little longer. The ranger talked to us 4 or 5 times, told us there were 2 holes open in front of us. When we saw the group ahead in the fairway on #10, I mentioned it to him and he said there were 2 holes open in front of them. We played as fast as we could without just totally ruining our round. I'm an 8 hdcp and the other guy was probably a 12. We hit some balls in the junk but we didn't even look for them. We did everything we could to move our play along, and we were at least a hole ahead of the group behind us, and yet the ranger followed us around and cautioned us several times to speed it up. I travel and play a lot of top golf courses, and that is the most inappropriate treatment I have ever received. The rest of the staff was excellent and the course is excellent; I highly recommend it. However, be prepared to play at a pace faster than this difficult course allows.
Geat coirse
Enjoyed the round, I didn't rate the foodservice as I didn't partake saw about 20 Javelins feeding around the 15th green
very nice
This is a very nice Reese Jones course. It is very playable and challenging if you play the right tees. First time there, get the cheat sheet for playing tips. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The only draw back is the price. Yes it is a very nice course, but cost made me rate the "value for the money" lower. Especially for the length of drive to get there.
Picturesque and challenging.
The course has many interesting holes with tees in truly unique locations and challenging approaches to greens. Staff are helpful and while off-course facilities are adequate, the course makes the journey worthwhile. Value is good but at the upper range of pricing. Definitely worth a return visit.
A bit out of the way.
Quintero was a long drive from the Scottsdale area. If you don't mind an hour or more drive, go for it. It's a beautiful course but too far away. Too many other good courses closer to Phoenix/Tempe,Scottsdale area. Great layout but be sure to play the correct tees or you'll suffer.
awesome greens
This course is in the middle of nowhere but worth a 45 minute drive. Great practice area. Condition of the course was as good as a private country club. Greens were really fast. Ive never played a public course with greens this fast. Very unique layout, generous fairways but some tight approach shots. Errant shots are penalized heavily-either lost in the desert or in a bunker.
I would love to play this course again and again. I rarely give a course 5 stars but this is deserving!
A Must Play Golf Course
Quintero is one of the top two courses I have played in AZ thus far. The course is extremely challenging, but the views, course layout, and conditions are incredible. It is so serene and beautiful, you feel as though you have escaped to paradise. Every hole presents a new experience, and you will give your camera a workout. Just bring extra balls, LOL. The practice facility is practically in the next county, but the ride up there and to the first tee is really nice, and the facilities are fabulous. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. This is A must play course.
So you stiff the guy who's trying to make a few bucks cleaning your clubs after the round? Exactly what did he do to slow down your 5 hour plus round? Did he clean your clubs? Then tip him! Do you also go to a restaurant and have a great meal, while the wait staff did a very good job, only to tell the waiter/waitress you don't tip because there was a 45 minute wait for your table?
