Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Played the Pine course for first time. A fair and enjoyable golf challenge. Price was reasonable for this time of the year.
Fun and challenging course
The course was great, staff is friendly, and the course is challenging. Multiple holes surrounded by sand traps, swamps/water and makes it difficult to get on without under or over shooting. Great time, would recommend.
SPX2 on VV
Terrible layout....course not in good condition...not worth $170.
Traditional Golf in AZ
It was refreshing not to see any Cactus or lizards, or any rattlesnakes. This is a traditional golf course layout. Tree lined, some water on a few holes to Navigate. You must pay attention to the course map, so you can avoid the trouble. The pins can be tricky if they want you to hate golf. Lots of undulating greens that roll faster than you think. Easy course to hone in the golf game. Plenty of distance. Lots of errant shots from other tee boxes, so don't pick up a ball that isn't yours! Pay attention. Come on, man!
Stay away!!
The staff here is dishonest and crooked. There was a storm in the area, and at the turn we were encouraged to leave under the PROMISE from the staff that we would be credited for a tee time in the near future. We never would have left unless they assured us this was the case. Then we emailed them to make good on the credit, and they played dumb, citing cliches about golf being an outdoor sport.
The problem isn’t the weather or the policies. If that was the case, don’t encourage people to leave by promising them a credit you don’t plan to make good on.
McCormick ranch pines course
Great play to play!
The greens are fast! The fairways are well taken care of and the yee boxes are great.
Some tricky holes that require good aim and planning.
About 4'15" to play.
SPX2 on vacation
Not a great course. Looks nice from the Bvld...but not in good shape inside. Especially for the money.
White tees very demanding.
Not a good course to play for the average golfer. Too many tricks in the fairways and on the greens.
Very playable
Course was inGreat shape and very playable, making for a great experience. Played in about 4 hours with hardly ever a wait.
Rude Staff, Bad Conditions, Avoid
Went on a golf trip with 20 guys, all of which flew across the country to enjoy all the great courses Scottsdale has to offer.
McCormick Ranch was by far the biggest disappointment and it wasn’t even close.
It poured rain for 2 hours. It happens. Standing water everywhere, course was unplayable. We kindly asked the staff for a refund and/or rain check and were very rudely talked down to by the staff.
Jim in particular was especially condescending and kept saying he has “his private owner he needs to keep happy”. Apparently they forgot that without customer their course doesn’t exist.
Worst of all they charged the card on file 72 hours in advance which is an outrageous policy to have. This should have been a red flag from the start.
Give you business to courses who respect their customer, not this joke of a course.
Greens were in decent shape but well pt marked.
Off fairway conditions were mainly completely dead and barren.
Pleasantly surprised.
The staff wss friendly and course was in nice condition, tees and fairways were well maintained and the greens were smooth. The bunkers could use some work, but overall the course was in nice shape.
Hard greens, poor fairways and no
food after 3:00
Lots of better value courses to play.
Not going back.
Never Again.
My expectations must have been WAY TOO HIGH for this course in the Scottsdale area.
I anticipated a 'resort' style course meticulously maintained with elevation changes etcetera BUT NO none of that.
They're maximizing profit with minimum reinvestment into their course.
Too many rounds per year and it shows.
The photos show the conditions when I was on site and the Director of Golf stated that "We have NOT deemed our course unplayable" How can that be??
No bad weather credit
Weather came on after we finished 9 holes. It was thundering & lightning. We decided to quit then & asked for a 9 holes credit.. We were told by the pro shop to call the manager to see about a credit. We called the manager & he told us no he wouldn't give us a credit! . ..We won't play here again. Is it that hard to give a 9 hole credit when we had already payed the full price for 18 holes??
Beautiful!
It was a little wet and soggy due to rain. Surprised there weren’t water bottles in the cart. Being in Scottsdale and at that price, water bottles should be a no brainer.
