Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Great greens
The overall course is average. Barely any sand in the bunkers and the fairways are kind of beat up and burned out. Could just be the time of year. Looking forward to seeing it in another 1-2 months. The greens are the best part…firm but hold shots and not lighting fast but fast enough.
Disappointed
Disappointed. Overpriced. Poor condition, except for the greens which were smooth and fast. Tee boxes and a lot of the fairways were low cut weeds, not smooth grass. Bunkers were inconsistent, some with very little sand, some with a lot of rocks, one with putrid puddles. This was the Palm Course. Good friendly service by staff. Good practice area. A large (not jumbo) bucket cost $17. I've played courses in this condition that cost $25.

Palm Course
Enjoyed the course. They started us a few minutes early and we played the first 5 holes at a good pace and then had to wait on most holes. We were a foursome and Somme a few groups ahead of us had the course backed up. No effort to discover the backup and move players along. Course was in good shape and fun/fair to play.
Palm is a good layout
Like this old park course - good views of mountains, but a little pricey. Maintenance needs to trim grass around the edges of the bunkers.
Starter was surley and really made me and my guest feel like he was doing me a favor by letting me and my guest on the course.. I had guest from Ohio here and will never play this course agsain because of the attiftude exhibited by the starter. He really was the worst from the beginning of the round and even when we left.he was so bad I refused to tip him whcjh i never have done at any course. We followed a team compettion from Suguaro H.S.. which was no problem at all but the guy that was the starter was just the most rude person I have ewver encountered on a golf course.
DONT PLAY HERE! GO ACROSS THE STREET TO SILVERADO
Made a 4 some tee time for 5:55 on a Sunday, myself and two buddies showed up but my 4th was sick and couldn’t make it. I told them in the pro shop when I checked in that my 4th was sick and not going to make it. Fast foward two weeks later I get a suprise charge of $139 for my 4th that was sick. I Called the pro shop and explained the situation to the pro shop “CASHIER” and he proceeds to laugh at me and stated they need 48hrs advance in order to cancel the tee time and he would not refund me. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he put Dan Jones on the phone. Dan explained to me that’s their policy 48hrs in advance in order to cancel a tee time and not be charged. I asked how is that possible if my friend just informed me the day of that he is sick??? Dan proceeded to just tell me that’s their policy and he cannot refund my $139. I asked to talk to his supervisor which he informed me is the owner Brian Kart. Brian was not available but Dan was going to talk to him and get back with me. Dan calls me back around noon just to inform me that Brian “the owner” is not going to refund my $139 and that he is Enforcing their policy.
Across the street is Silverado golf course I have played there numerous times, go there instead. Much nicer course and a much nicer, reasonable and friendly bunch of people working there.
Very nice course, great staff, lots of extras
We like McCormick Ranch Palm and it's a course we play every time we come to Scottsdale. The folks here are super friendly and helpful, and I like that the range balls and cart are included so it's all inclusive. They're always improving the course, too. Highly recommend.
Watch out
Don’t forget your putter. Challenging putting but must fun. Great conditions and best played (not) in the winter when the wind blows through like an icy zephyr. Lol
Nice course but …
The layout of these 2 courses is very good. No 2 holes feel the same. Only complaint is the greens are pretty slow and the green side sand traps are poorly maintained. Packed hard … the need to be sifted
Winter Prices - Horrific Day
It was a 110 degree plus day. No outside beverages allowed. We purchased beverages at 7:45 am on hole 2, and the beverage cart professional assured us we’d see her in a short while. After 3+ hours we had to leave… first time leaving a round, having lived in AZ for 20 years. Played here many times, and I am on a committee that has held a spring time charity tournament for more than a decade. My son said spending $250+ for a round of two for his birthday in August made me a chump.
