Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Beat
Afternoon weekday round in the summer heat so the pace was great. Greens rolled good. I thought the course was fine until the back 9. Absolutely trash second half. Hard pan dirt in tons of spots near greens and standing puddles on other holes. This course should be ashamed of price. It’s worth about $45 max only because the greens rolled fine.
This course used to be beautiful
I’ve got to say I was pretty embarrassed yesterday, it had been a while since I’ve played here but it was my go to for bringing clients for a long time. I spent all week singing your praises to my clients for me to look foolish after seeing the conditions of the greens, standing water on the edges of fairways and the condition of the “cart path” on the back 9 was ridiculous. And to top it off We didn’t see a beverage cart until we were done with our round. I’ve always had a lot of fun at your courses but Jeeze you guys need to turn it around.
Fun Course
We played on a Sunday morning in May and the course was very busy. We had to wait at several tee boxes for the group in front of us to clear. Overall the course was fun with occasional water and oddly shaped fairways. I would play this course again.
Paying for Location
First time playing this course and let me say, IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. It's May 20th and 96 degrees out and they are still trying to justify in-season green fees with dying fairway grass. I played the Pine course, and hole 18 green was half dead with half of it brown. My wife tagged along to check out the scenery and read a book, they charged us a $49.99 "observer" fee for her going. There are several other courses in the area, I would advise you to try those first. I am from the area and am pretty disappointed.
Nice course, nice staff ok amenities. Course layout was fine. Only got lost once.
Course knowledge is key. Look at the gps
Nice Mountain View’s…..boring layout
The course is conveniently located and has nice views. The condition was average at best and most holes were just boring. Many better out there.
Pace of play was very slow
If I had known when I booked my tee time that a 4 man scramble of about 70 golfers were teeing off in front of me I wouldn't have played at McCormich Ranch. The round was just over 5 hours! I normally play in 3.5-4 hours. If it wasn't such a nice day and the other twosome were great to play with I would have packed it in at holes 13 or 14.
Back nine pretty rough
Holes are not clearly marked. Especially the back nine. We had several occasions that we weee not quite sure where the next hole was. Front nine was in great shape. Back none not so much. Lots of repairs needed to cart paths and the areas around cart path. I don’t want to sound picky but you are charging pretty steep prices. I expected a bit more.
STAY AWAY. Stay home and burn money, it will be more enjoyable
What a total joke this golf course is, just like your local Municipal Court only 10 times the price. Plane conditions are definitely no better than a small town municipal layout of the course is mediocre at best.. the staff and service are horrible.
It is clear that there is no management leadership anywhere to be found near this facility.
If you’re going to play somewhere in Phoenix play somewhere else anywhere else.
STAY AWAY!
Enjoyable round
The staff was very friendly and the course was challenging. Greens were true and fast.
Was expecting better
The course had very few golfers on it which allowed for a fast pace of play however it also explained some things. The front 9 was just plain bad. Grounds were in terrible shape. It was difficult to even determine the layout of a hole. Very disappointing for the value.
I play courses like this back home for $15-$20.
Our group has scratched this course off our list of return destinations.
Not Great experience
It wasn't flagged that there were limited rider facilities or the cost.. After warming up was told my wife couldn't ride with me as not enough carts. Could walk along!! Finally found the supervisor cart for me (without sat nav and which broke down after 6 holes) had to pay $160 plus another $50 odd for rider. Very poor experience. Course itself had great views but was a bit up and down.
