I’ve been living in Phoenix since 1989 and have always wanted to play The Boulders but never had, until Thursday… Well it was well worth the wait!! That was one of the nicest courses that I’ve ever played, a day I won’t soon forget! I found a “hot deal” and snatched it up right away! Thank you for offering us those kinds of deals!

Scottsdale staycation…..

I had an awesome first time experience yesterday playing @ the Boulders! I had planned to play at Kierland Resort (staying there), until I came across an awesome “hot deal” that I just couldn’t pass up! One of the best courses that I’ve ever played! Just fantastic, I’ll definitely be back!!!

Beautiful course, t-blocks, fairways, sand traps and greens in great shape.

I have been looking forward to playing this course. The course has many challenging holes. Unlike many courses the bunkers actually had sand and were well maintained. The only reason I did not rate this course better was the practice area for greens and chipping were closed for maintenance. There was no notice of this when making t-times. The pace of play was about four hours and 30 min. I would love to play the course again.

Beautiful view, friendly staff; tight!

What a course ! Where other courses are crying “it’s shutdown and plugging time” there is no sign of that at the boulders. Just gorgeous. Amenities are great nice having balls at range and no worry about bringing balls with you. Ball markers, divot tools etc. are plenty. Washroom facilities are great. Only drawback is that some of the direction to tee boxes are confusing ended up making a lot of u turns :)

First Class

I haven't played Boulders in many years. Instead I play other courses further south next to friends. This facility was in great shape, especially August. The staff professional and attentive. We started on time. The tee boxes were full, and the group in front of us seemed slow, yet the pace was on target to 14 min a hole. It was cart path only due to overnight heavy rain, and that impacted somewhat. The course can be difficult, especially from the back. There is vegetation on both sides, and a narrow passage to the fairway on most holes, with more vegetation between box and fairway that can sometimes block your view of the landing area. Its also a long course from Blue and I remember a couple of holes after my 2nd fairway still 50-100 out, so it can be frustrating if you can't hit as far as you used to. They offered combo-tees (i.e. white-copper), so we should have moved up. Once on the fairway it played much easier. Greens rolled fast. They were firm, rolled and had minimal damage. Great course. Will play again.

Absolutely incredible. Staff was exceptional. Course was well maintained. Would highly recommend playing here to everyone I speak with

This experience was off the charts. The boulders is one exceptional experience. My hat goes off to the staff and to troon management. I will write into Troon management on the incredible customer service standards that the staff exemplifies.

Beautiful and tight

Boulders has always been one of my favorites in the valley. It seems to have gone downhill a bit (from 5 stars to 4 in my personal evaluation). Still a great place to play, but it doesn’t stand out like it used to. Perhaps thats because of the plethora of great courses built since i first played there (probably 30 years ago).

Fairways are tight so if you spray the ball, bring plenty. Starter gave a long spiel about playing the white tees unless you are a low single digit handicap. Really, whites dont help much if you cant hit it straight. I okayed with 3 younger men who could hit it a long way and had no problem with the distance. Two of rhem had a bit of problem with the desert in the both sides of most holes.

Greens were a bit fuzzy, which is my main reason for dropping it down to 4 stars. That might be a choice by the superintendent keeping the greens a bit longer due to the extreme heat that they have been having in the valley.

If you have never played at the boulders its worth a visit as the course is extremely picturesque.

Nice price and nice staff

At 105 degree, hot deal was great price.

But the practice yard should be better(no grass but some weed) and practice green was under construction.

Excellent Course and Staff

This course is always top notch! Condition was very good especially for the summer months in the desert. The views are wonderful. Pace of play was really good. The only negative is being asked to pay $14 a beer which is just ridiculously expensive. Imagine paying $84 for a 6 pack of beer. The staff was wonderful and kind.

One of my former favorites in the valley

Boulders had long been my favorite course in the valley. I came her for the first time probably 40 years ago and have loved it ever since. With the proliferation of great course in the valley it seems to be less special. Course layout is nice, and the boulders and tee boxes remain aimewhat unique. However, it isn’t in a great of condition as I remember. The greens in particular were slow, but rolled OK. I’m guessing the were keeping them longer to keep the greens alive I the extreme heat of the last few weeks. Still a bit disappointing.

As always at the boulders be prepared to drive it straight or look for balls. It’s very demanding off the tee, as most holes don’t have any bail out areas.

Still worth playing, it’s just slipped a little bit. .

Boulders rock

Really enjoyed this layout. Desert golf at its finest. Course was in great shape. Bunkers had consistent sand. Staff was friendly and attentive. My new favorite spot when I visit my folks in Carefree.

Boulders rocks

Really enjoyed the layout. Course was in great shape. Sand in the bunkers was consistent. Great staff. Wish I could’ve rolled some putts, but the putting green was closed. Besides that, really enjoyed it. Will be back for more!
