Canyon Course...tee off towards Camelback Mtn. Photo submitted by u000001276894 on 09/24/2012
Great course, but short
Played the Desert/Canyon layout. Kind of strange long cart rides twisting between the three 9 hole courses, but not a problem. Course is only 6,000 yards. So your scores will stay low. T-boxes, fairways, bunkers, good but not great. Fairways have very many unfilled divots in the usual landing areas, T- boxes had a lot of divots too. No sand bottles on carts. Greens were in very good condition. Pace was 3:55. Great views. Would repeat at the GN rates.
Right next to Camelback
The Phoenician is a fun course to play with the desert and canyon nines playing like 2 different tracks. The desert nine has some holes right at the base of the mountain and there a couple wedge par 3's that are downhill. Seems like all the putts break away from Camelback. The canyon is a little flatter but still has rolling terrain. The relish burger bistro is a nice place to eat after the round. The staff and facilities are great.
Not as plush as I would expect for this course
After playing Las Sendas the day before I was let down by the lack of green grass. It looks like they did not fully overseed as a lot of brown grass on the course and not as plush. Greens were in great shape though.
First Time
Course was in great shape. Beautiful condition.
Agree with other people who have reviewed that it plays very slow. Got backed up on a few holes and had to wait a lot which led to a loss of rhythm.
Many fun holes with elevation changes, shots over or around water, bunkers protecting greens and canyons / mountains in play.
Staff was extremely friendly, offering to clean clubs and carry them to my car.
If you play during the peak season, during a peak time expect to have a long round (5hrs).
Phoenician
Awesome condition. Awesome scenery. Great, friendly staff.
Good course to play on a sunny day!
Good experience overall, but the rangers should have done more to keep people moving along. It took us five hours to play eighteen holes. Too long!
Exclusive, yet busy course
Course in good shape, great pace and exclusive setting. However having played many courses in valley of the sun I felt pricing was too high for this tract. Wouldn't recommend it or play it again based solely on price. I understand it though, it is busy as is. It would be literally over run if it were more affordable. With all that said, you are paying for unique views and location more than for the course itself. So busy, very well organized and impressive flow.
Majestic
If you're debating on weather to play a desert course or more of a tropical oasis then look no further. This place gives you all options, as well as, the most amazing views of Paradise Valley. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Never seen so many little rabbits. All in all it was one of the best courses I played while in Phoenix. I plan on coming back next year and playing many more courses I didn't have time for this week, but this will be a must play for me when I come back.
Excellent golf experience
I found the course to be in excellent condition. The layout was good and offered some challenging holes while not being over the top for the average golfer. The course is not long but requires some shotmaking because of the sand and water hazards. The greens rolled true but were not particularly fast which is my only complaint.
Slooooooooow but GORGEOUS
6 hour round. Too many unrepaired divots on greens. Not worth the pricetag on this day.
We played 3 courses last week, this one was the most expensive. Greens pretty beat for the $$$. Fun layout but there was a 50yd par3.
Wonderful staff, great facility, BEAUTIFUL scenery. I think w less traffic and better green conditions, this review would vastly improve. Visually a stunning course.
Ok
Too much of a resort course for me.
Lots of nice views but a few holes to close to each other ......few balls landing on our fairway.
GPS navigation was off target the day we played
Not configured from previous day
All in all good course but much nicer courses in the area
Phoenician Review
Course was in good condition. Greens were a little slow for my liking. Many were sloped back to front so it was difficult to get the ball close to the pins.
Cart drinks were stupidly expensive.$25 for two bar rail drinks!
Fairway bunkers had lots of stone, gravel mix with sand. Not good for clubs.
I would play again for the same price!
wife enjoyed it.
Great day with my Wife and Son
This was a wonderful day to spend with my wife and son. I am visiting My son and daughter in law ( she had to work today) and the three of us had a great day. The weather was cool to start but turned out to be just perfect. Course was in nice shape and we finished 18 holes in 3 hrs 20 mins.
Amazing conditions!
This is definitely a course worth paying for! Carpet like greens and challenging layout. Our foursome played in 4 hours - we are all in the upper teen handicaps. Great course!
golf trip 2016 AZ
great course. well kept as you would expect for this sort of money played all three courses some are more scenic than others with the stunning 8 on canyon lovely.
my only gripe was the GPS too many adverts Especially the 4:29 screen pain in the neck its the slow play screen well its cart path only so pace is slow.
