Canyon Course...tee off towards Camelback Mtn. Photo submitted by u000001276894 on 09/24/2012
How about some water and better service.
For a resort, Troon managed course, I expect more. They give you two bottles of water to start and we only see a cart girl once on each 9. The drinking fountains have warm water and the pace of play was atrocious. 4 hours and nearly 40 minutes is unacceptable in the summer. Very disappointing to say the least.
Beautiful Course
Have played here a few times before - always top notch - the land, facilities and all. This time got to tee off early in AM on a gorgeous Friday - minus humidity. Played the Desert and Canyon - never played the Desert nine. Definitely the best combo of the three. Course was in amazing shape - Canyon to me is still most challenging slightly over the Desert - to each their own though. Cart girl was cool, and decently frequent. Only complaint, no water jugs/coolers anywhere - huge bummer and almost needed in AZ summers. Other courses that have it - have a leg up. But that is only flaw in my mind. On both those courses, you make your way up around the mountain in various ways, and see awesome views of the city. Will forever be a player here - now get the water coolers!!!
Tricky layout...
Lived in Az for 30+ years and it was the first time playing the Phoenician. Fun course good conditions greens were ok,not very fast but everything does break away from camelback MTN if u have the opportunity to fore caddie some of the blind holes it's worth it. Pace of play was excellent but the day we played it was very humid out and being so close to the MTN there was no breeze to make it comfortable.
Great greens for this time of year
The greens were in excellent condition for this time of year in AZ
Top notch
Great round, classy place. I'll be back.
Great value
The golf course is located in the middle of a very high class resort/spa. Which is reflective in the price of the lunch at their Burger Bistro. There were no hamburgers on the menu for less than $20. That being said, it was one of the best burgers that I have ever eaten:) The staff were very professional, the clubhouse is beautiful, even the range balls were first class. I paid $20 including cart to play here, but you get the feeling by the surrounding's and the golf course, that come October, you would be forking over at least $150. The golf course itself is interesting, there are many fairway bunkers that you have to thread the needle on, at right about 230 from the championship tees. There are a few really cool short holes with hazards to be thought about, that give you various options on how to play the hole. The course is well manicured, the water hazards(including a waterfall) are clear and beautiful, and the greens are straightforward, nothing tricky about them. Very enjoyable over all experienc
Summer jewel
Great value and great staff
Beautiful and challenging course.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The course was in great shape, very beautiful layout and very challenging. The staff was excellent. Definitely will play course again.

Hot Golf
Staff was really helpful. Friendly and courteous. Oasis 9 was kind of rough shape, especially the greens. A number of large bare spots in the green. Pace of play was good. We got caught behind a slow group the last few holes and the marshal asked them to let us through. They elected to speed up, which was ok.
Dramatic Views/Great Track
The best resort course in the Valley of the Sun. Played the Oasis and Canyon. Both offered challenging holes, as well as forgiving holes. You will enjoy this venue/track when played early in the summer. In the fall, you will have to pinch yourself. It is heavenly.
Great summertime value
Always wanted to play Phoenician but cost prohibitive most of the time. Found a hot deal on GolfNow for $23.00 per 18 holes so finally got the chance. Excellent course for a weekend hacker like me. Great layout, incredible views, and challenging holes. Having so much fun, I hardly noticed the 110 degree heat.
Still in good shape for the summer!
I really like this course, especially in the summertime. They keep most of the course green, and the greens are usually smooth. The staff is great, you can tell they care and know what it's like to play in the Arizona summer.
My new favorite course
perfect condition, beautful course...my new fav course in Phoenix!!
GREAT GOLF COURSE
I REALLY LIKED THE COURSE, BUT THE DRINK LADY SEEMED TO SIT IN ONE PLACE & IT WAS HOT & WE NEEDED HER MORE OFFEN. MORE WATER ON THE COURSE IS NEEDED WHEN IT GETS THAT HOT OUT THERE.
Fun in the Sun
What great course. Very beautiful course with fun and challenging holes. Recommend this to anyone looking for a course to play with multiple skill levels in your group.
Beautiful view
Definitely playing again.
OK but many better choices for same price
Course is short and narrow . A couple of spectacular par 3 holes, but overall conditions of the greens were poor. Fairways were good shape. Not bad for the money, but for this time of year there are many nice courses that are in much better conditions for about same amount of money.
Play it again soon
Fantastic course layout, fairways in great shape, but the greens could use some TLC. Played 18 on a warm June morning, second foursome off the 1st tee on the Oasis course. Expected water coolers every three or four holes, typical for most Phoenix area courses, but found none. Will most certainly play again this summer. Great value for the green fees paid.
Not for beginners
Deep bunkers, some water in play, have to use course management skill.
NOT A TRADITIONAL COURSE
This is a great course, lots of up and downs. Well taken care of. The Phoenician must hold some sort of record for the number of landscape maintenance workers on the course. Every hole I played had some sort of activity with landscaping maintenance. The desert 9 was interesting. The canyon 9 was stacked fairways back and forth up the mountain. Great views and great service but personally would not frequent this course from strictly a golf viewpoint. I kept looking for the dinosaurs and windmills.
