The Phoenician Golf Club

Given golf in Scottsdale on Aug 3 most course are working on overseed greens changing over grass rye/ bluegrass this course was in good not great shape, greener than my country club here, spots of dead grass and a couple of greens need work.

I think the worst part is that, cart path only on 1 and 18 the entire year. Just terrible. I am sure there is a reason but….. just terrible.

Played in 115 degree weather… didn’t need the driving range to loosen up at all! Course is amazing, very well maintained and challenging enough from the amateur tees to make a first-time course player to feel like they’re playing tournament ball. Would play again happily. Locker room is really nice and the showers are top notch to cool down and smell great after a very hot round.

The course was in great summer shape with soft receptive greens. Obviously primarily a winter resort as there was not sufficient water available on course. Bring your own jug when it’s hot. Automated pace of play warnings on the GPS are annoying, we waited on the group ahead all day, which was fine, it’s a resort, guests are having fun.

Too many holes were cart path only for the heat of late June.

The GC was in good condition for the season of the year.

Most resort courses don’t offer much of a challenge. However, from any tee box, the Phoenician doesn’t hold back! Great elevation changes along with risk/reward par-4s & 5s make this resort course a must play for locals and visitors alike. Amazing, friendly and professional staff culminate an overall memorable experience. And with the GolfNow rate, this one is hard to beat!

Well worth a visit to play this course. I rank it as my favorite course so far in Phoenix area. Look forward to playing aging. Make sure you search for good prices to make it a better deal to play.

This is the first time I played the Phoenician since it changed to 18 holes from 27. They did a good job with the holes they kept. I did miss the Downhill par 3 on Camelback that is no longer there. Overall a good layout, might be short for long hitters. Greens were in nice shape, Troon properties usually are.

Absolutely loved playing at the golf course at The Phoenician Golf Club. Beautifully designed, extremely well maintained, and such an interesting layout from start to finish. Every hole felt unique and the scenery made the experience even better. Highly recommend to anyone golfing in Scottsdale!
