Great views fun course.
Would recommend this golf course to anyone in the area
Nice course too slow
As all resort courses to many beginners and people who have no game at all results in slow play
slow play
4.5 hrs is to long, ranger should control slow groups.
Great course
One of the best courses in Phoenix. Had a blast!
Wow
Great afternoon of golf
Tons of wildlife and course is in great condition.
Great golf
It's a great golf course. It's one of the best courses I have ever played.
Played much better
This course allows 5-somes RIDICULOUS
Slow and the greens were terrible
NEVER AGAIN
PS only 18 holes were open all week
Decent conditions
I played the Desert/Canyon 18 hole combination on at 2:30 pm on July 8th. GN's rate was $22 including range balls. The course was not busy at all and we were able to play at a fairly good pace.
The driving range pretty chewed up where they had it set up. Finding enough grass to hit off of was difficult. "Chewed up" is actually a good way to describe most of the course. Many of the tee boxes, especially on the par 3s, had a large amount of divots and bare spots and a few were not level. One tee box on a par three was unplayable because of so many divots. The fairways were in decent shape but again with a lot of divots and bare spots. The greens were also in similar condition with a lot of un-repaired ball marks and bare spots. They didn't have a lot of grass on them and were fast. The strong winds we had that day really affected putts. I know it's summertime but the course was in rough shape overall.
The views on the course are pretty awesome and you don't realize how far up the side of the mountain you go on the desert 9. The course is fun and challenging without a lot of length. Shot placement and proper yardage will help you score here.
Given the conditions I experienced I think better values exist within the same area of Scottsdale/Phoenix.
Great condition for summer in AZ
First time playing course. Was in excellent condition bar a few bare spots on greens but for July golf the course team should be commended for such great presentation. Courses are not long but they still provide a challenge with greens that are fast and sloped. Watch those hole placements on top of slopes as very easy to putt right off the greens. Some stunning views from the high tee boxes well worth the visit alone. Great practice facilities, nice clubhouse and if the family are shopping in Fashion Square it's less than five minutes away to escape to the golf. I will certainly go back.
A Desert Mountain Beauty
I love the Phoenician. From the great staff to the beautiful view to the ease of access it's all great.
I like to play the Desert and Canyon nines. Each has its share of long approaches, elevation changes and challenging greens. The course was in great condition with unusually lush grass for this time of the season and well groomed greens.
The different nines have a good mixture of moderate to moderately challenging holes. While some might consider it "target golf" in places, I like the challenge of having little room for error in placing your shots. Like any good course, the Phoenician offers holes that can surrender birdies or take you for a double bogey ride just as quickly.
The staff is excellent and friendly and very helpful. The Relish Bistro serves up some nice food for a reasonable price considering it is a resort.
If you have not been there, give The Phoenician a visit and play the Desert/Canyon layout. Don't forget to have lunch.
Awesome Course
Beautiful views! Greens really fast! Very enjoyable round
very scenic
Well conditioned resort course. The pace of play was slow.. We played the Oasis and the Canyons and I found that it was very difficult to know where you were going, fortunately we played with players that had played this facility before and we were ok, however we did see a number of players at a loss as to which way to go.
The scenery was fantastic, great views of the valley, nice elevation changes from hole to hole, and lots of shaded areas around the tee boxes.
Awesome
awesome from the cashier to the starter everyone was absolutely awesome! I love this course!
Nearly Perfect
I am a local and played this on a weekday as a single. Starter was very friendly and helpful. The Canyon course is in much better shape this time of year but the Desert course was still good.
My only complaint was that the water fountains were mostly warm. They do give you 2 bottles of water which is good but when it's 115* degrees out, access to cold water shouldn't be an inconvenience.
good resort course
We play this course often in the summer when the rates are lower. It's always in good condition and the elevation changes make it quite a challenge.
John Kim
It was great overall but the distance was very short.
great views and conditioned course
Played the desert/canyon rotation. Very playable and great conditions. Fairways beautiful and greens fast and undulating. Awesome awesome views of the camelback mountains and surrounding Scottsdale, Phoenix.
Very friendly tees for ladies player. My wife who does not hit it long had wonderful time.
Only negative was when we finished round and brought our cart back we like to take our clubs and leave. My wife heard one of the golf staff say to his fellow staff member'told you so' . Ended on sour note as we didnt ask for cleaning of clubs and staff shouldnt expect tip and talk negative about guest.
Disappointed...
I expected more from one of the premier resorts in Phoenix. I have played all over the valley, and I finally made it our to the Phoenician when the prices dropped for summer.
I understand it is summer, but I shouldn't have to PUTT through ground under repair on your greens if I'm playing at a resort. I expect that from lesser courses, but not from the Phoenician. Fairways had ground under repair, rough had ground under repair, greens had ground under repairs. It was like I was playing a course in California during a severe drought. You are charging $10 for a hotdog and $8 for a beer, spend the money on water and get this course where it should be. I played Keirland last week and it was immaculate, like a resort course should be. Gold canyon, whirlwind, Troon North, and WigWam are all in much better shape right now than the Phoenician.
EXCELLENT!!!
Course was in great condition! Holes were beautiful and had numerous elevation changes. Views were SPECTACULAR!!! I will definitely go back. Also got see Rickie Fowler up close and personal on the range!
Awesome course
Sweet resort and course. Greens were not in the best condition. Other than that great place
