green conditions Photo submitted by u000003377470 on 10/21/2019
Starter people were great but the rangers and other personnel were unprofessional and wanted to argue every issue even when they were wrong
Frustrating Greens
This is a great course spoiled somewhat by greens that are really unfair. The pin placements were mostly on the side of a slope so if you miss your first putt, even by a hair, your ball is going to roll a good 5 feet or more away. The entire putting experience is an exercise in barely touching the ball to get it in motion.
Tee to green the course is in good shape and nicely challenging, especially if you don't know where the water hazards lurk.
Overall it was a fun day. Being paired with a great couple realy helped!
Nice course.
Tee boxes were a little rough and some bad spots in the fairways.
Great Value
We enjoyed playing Painted Mountain. The course layout was fun and challenging. The pace was slow but understandable given it’s the busy season.
Joe
It was a 5 hour round. The group in front of us were 2 holes behind. No one did a thing about moving groups on. Terrible.
Good value
Fun course. Has a lot of dirt areas if you get off the fairway you will probably be hitting off of dirt or rock. But the greens put very well, there are many water hazards, and overall a fun little course.
Frost delay caused some congestion on course
but still reasonable time to complete the round
Average golf at average price
It goes without saying golf has become more expensive since 2020. This applies to the valley around Phoenix as well. Painted Mountain is now $60-70 to play a decently maintained average golf course. Because of the price point, you can expect the course to be busy every day. Still a good value when compared to the other courses in the area.
