Painted Mountain Golf Club
About
The Painted Mountain Golf Club is a challenging desert-style course with a variety of different tees to accommodate every age group and skill level. The course offers a lengthier challenge from the first hole, a par-5 dogleg right, to the last, which requires an approach shot over water in order to reach the green. The Painted Mountain Golf Club, in addition to the course, is also home to the John Jacob's Golf School.

green conditions Photo submitted by u000003377470 on 10/21/2019
first play
This is the first time I've played this course this year. It has improved some since last season. Greens and fairways seem better. Staff was friendly and reasonable helpful. Carts have no GPS, but are serviceable. Like the layout, simple without a lot of trouble to get into. Off course amenities seemed limited.
Best course conditions in a long time
I’ve played this course quite a few times over the last few years and have to say it’s in the best shape ever. Greens were smooth with very few “bumpy”overseeding spots. Staff was accommodating when we ran into some folks we knew and the suffled things so we could play together. I do wish they would put some good merchandise in the pro shop. They used to have a great selection of items.
Great Course
Course was super fun. Grass was green, greens played well and the fairways and rough was amazing.
Poor t-boxes and fairways
I was disappointed with the course condition, t-boxes were poor and hard to put t down in the ground. Fairways were poor and hard which makes harder to make good contact! I will not book mother round gain at this facility. Most green were good. The pace of play was slow! We should have been done under 4 hours but labored for 4:45 hrs.
Great Track
I’ve played here for the first time late December and instantly liked the layout. The fairways and greens are in great shape. Some of the greens are large and you pay for being inaccurate, but isn’t that part of the game? There are some holes where you can let it rip and some where you need to be right on the money. To me, it’s a great track. Reasonable green fees and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is only one thing missing…… no driving range. Putting green and chipping area are fine and pretty much represent what you will find on the course.
6,000 Yards from Blue
8 minute tee times don’t work. Raise your green fee a tad if you need more money! General course conditions were below average at best.
Good value, good conditions
Price was good for 3:00 tee time and finished 15 holes in 2.75 hours. Grill is nice set up with authentic Italian. A couple holes are a bit goofy layout (#6 and 8) but course conditions are fine. You can see the effort to manage fungus on greens and hard to grow areas.one of my favorites in the east valley. Usually draws a nice retirement clientele.
Vacation
On vacation from the East was looking for a fair course at a reasonable price and boy did we find it!!From the starter to the pro shop other groups and everyone in between all were great.tee box to green and all between in good shape. Would recommend to others! Played round in 3 1/2 hours
Great track easy to play staff was and food was great 👍
Very unfriendly staff
There was a cashier guy who was very unfriendly.
I started the game in very unhappy feeling.
I don't really recommend this course.
The owner was driving around his cart. He was very kind and friendly.
pace is slow, rough is rocky fairway and greens great-people great!!
Pace of play
Two hours and forty-five minutes to play nine holes - a disgrace no matter how you slice it.
There was even a ranger on site and his excuse was there were just too many groups on the course so it was impossible to do anything.
Maybe they just overbooked the course for the extra revenue and didn’t care about the outcome.
Some group, somewhere, in that disgrace of a pace of play charade, was causing the problem and the ranger chose to do absolutely nothing about it.
There were at times, three to four groups waiting, not at par three’s but at par fours and fives.
I say again - two hours and forty-five minutes for nine holes.
If you book a later tee time it will be impossible to get eighteen holes.
The discount you get for the later tee time booking is negated because eighteen holes is not possible.
If you love this kind of golf, Painted Mountain is perfect for you.
If this pace of play bothers you then think twice.
Kind of a shame really because it’s a decent little course.
Course is in okay condition, greens were inconsistent, grass otherwise was super long, bunkers were hard. Where is the mower? Extremely overpriced for the quality.
Nice Rye Grass
I booked for the wrong day, but Jason let me play anyway. They overseeded early. Smart business decision! A few of the employees are nice, including Whitney, Sarah, Teddy and Rick. Greens are hilly and challenging, and rolled pure. The bunkers have hardpan gravel, rocks and grass. (Don't try a sand shot, just chip) 3 Stars.
