Fabulous Course to work on your irons
It's a great course, well marked, and it has a neat restaurant for the 19th hole. Just be careful of bees around hole 10. I guess since it's spring, they're out and about. The course gives you opportunities to hone your irons, PW & a few opportunities to flex your driver skills. Had a great round. Will definitely return when I visit San Diego.
Conditions are great
Only played back nine, great conditions best greens in area
Sunday golf
On vacation in San Marcos. Played 18 holes at St. Marks . Lunch and we're also good
S-L-O-W play
Eight players in the group two ahead of ours. Took six hours for the round. No course marshal. Three groups piled together on tee boxes in groups behind the eight-some group. This course plays slow, but eight is enough.
cart charge and its use
golf pass deal with $24 cart chart at check in More inportantly some holes required cart path only, fine but not marked on course or video screen on each cart and your left on course unable to move except in reverse to get you close to cart path to continue
talk about frustrating and interruption of play
very poor course management
Great shape
Course was in fantastic shape. Pace of play a little on the slow side considering when our 1st group tee’d off with no one on the green but overall a little under 4.5 hrs
Need some Marshalls on the course
Overall course condition was good, but several tee boxes were completely trashed. No grass at all on 2 of the Par 3 tee boxes. Greens were ok, a lot of patrons not repairing ball marks. The front nine played in 2:05. Great pace and spacing. The back nine immediately backed up after 10th hole and it took over 3 hours to finish the back nine. No Marshalls seen on the course all day. The slow play ruined a pretty good day of golf unfortunately. Will look elsewhere the next time we visit San Diego area.
Gem
Course in great shape except for a few fairways that have some dead spots. Greens are very good and typically fast. The amenities, staff, and extras are also top notch for a ~$35 round of golf. There isn’t as much drinking water available as there should be. That would be my only beef with the course. Bring plenty of your own and have a great day for cheap money. I
Good Place for Golf and Beer
Price was fair. Course was walkable with a few hills. Nice staff and good food and beer selection at the 19th with outdoor seating. Will return. There were a lot of workers on the course, which can be distracting, but necessary I suppose.
Griendly
Enjoyed all from check end to lunch. The only problem was course was cart path only on 70% of course, which I can understand not wanting to damage course but for me with one lung would have appreciate the opportunity to know ahead of time to get another day to play
Gree fees
My GolfNow reservation said $27...was charged $37 at course???
