Tame the Dragon
From the moment you arrive, the ambiance sets a tone of elegance and quiet retreat. The clubhouse is notable. it’s the only golf clubhouse designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The surrounding forest, deep canyon edges, and mountain backdrops make for a dramatic arrival. In many ways, the course feels like a secret — tucked away from highway traffic, yet still accessible from the Tahoe/Truckee area.
Its not just a round of golf, it's an absolute adventure!!!
Breathtakingly TOUGH. but an absolute joy to play.....
Go see for yourself!
I’d heard this course is in very good shape!
I found out myself, it was spectacular! I’ve played here a few times and I have never seen it this nice!
Check it out!
Beware, it’s a real test mentally and physically!
The inside and outside stall members were friendly and helpful!
Pace of play was 3.5 hr. Played through a 3 some and a foursome! It was nice to have such courteous Locals!
Again check it out!
55 Holes at the Dragon
My brother and I played 55 holes here on Sunday, August 17. We tied the 54th so we had to play a sudden death playoff hole. We did not play very well at The Dragon, but we still thoroughly enjoyed the course. There are some great risk/reward holes, the course is very well maintained, and the views on several of the holes are spectacular. For two dudes from Texas, we struggled reading/putting the greens. Lots of 3 and 4 putts even after playing 3 rounds. The pace of play for 2 of the 3 rounds was great. Customer service was excellent. We would highly recommend this course.
Lots of up and down, elevated greens-stay straight!
Demanding course. Beautiful setting.
Course was in good shape. Great test of golf. The layout is really nice. Nice staff. Play this one if you get a chance.
Great Test but fair
Played there on Oct 1st and had heard how difficult the course was and that the greens were fast. The course was as expected tricky and the greens were fast however it played very fair, hit a good shot and you will be rewarded, hit a bad shot and you are in trouble, exactly how a challenging course should be.
Its very much a station to station type course but hit good shots and you will have a great day, the scenery cannot be beat, its in the top 3 prettiest coursed I have played.
My only criticism, and this could be a big one for some is that the bunkers were in very poor shape, hardly any sand so it was like hitting off hard pan, other than that it was a great day.
Challenging course
Course was in great shape. Although unforgiving, it was a fun round with excellent pace of play.
Long Day
This is a difficult course. Not designed for the average players to come out and have an enjoyable day. In my opinion, a 10-12 handicap will struggle to beak 100. Following 2 groups of 5 and a group of 7 made the day excruciatingly long. No Marshall. Called clubhouse, they did nothing. Overall in ok condition, definitely a few maintenance issues with irrigation. Was in much better shape when i played it 7 years ago.
Worth the drive
Excellent course. It is a very challenging layout that will encourage you to use every club in the bag. Great value and great time
Must play
This was my 1st time playing this coarse. I was a single, so not knowing the layout and not playing with a local got me into some trouble. But all in all it was a great experience. Did 18 holes in just under 4 hours so the coarse does play fast. Sand traps need sand and improved drainage. Greens were not very consistent in there speed and condition.
I am probable being a little to critical but this is a coarse worth playing.
Great course
Played Friday morning and the course was in great shape and pace of play was excellent.
Breathtaking
Best course, great track, beautiful shape. I love it!
For only being open a few days, I thought the course was excellent condition.
