slow slow slow
The last 3 rounds I played here were all over 5 hours. 5 hours being the fastest.
Cart malfunction
Our cart battery died in the 11th hole. We called in twice to get another cart delivered. No one ever showed up. The twosome we played with had to push our cart for 7 holes with theirs. Obviously those last 7 rounds were mot that enjoyable.
The other cart in our party also died on the 18th so we had to abandon that one and walk back. We never got a call or any type of update and the response back at the pro shop was a simple “sorry”. For the cost to play there, we expected a little more hustle and/or communication. Overall it’s a cool place to play. We’ve played there several times, but this last round kind of sucked and the 4 of us left a little frustrated.
Great Gem
I love this course ,restaurant, hotel… it’s all great.. courses are definitely challenging Ike harder then babe.. always love playing here must play
Treat
I've played Ike previously and feared Babe for sometime but what a gorgeous course. The par 3s are great especially 17. Can't wait to come back and shoot even worse.
it was one of my best course
I love the way designed the course was, and I would love to come back and play again.
Though I didn't get to finish the 18, it was definitely worth playing there.
Nice Course
This is the more fun of the two courses if you're an intermediate golfer like myself. Ike is just ridiculously long. A lot of strategy is needed on this course and course management is key. My only gripe is the $80 fee. It's a little pricey but I guess it helps attract only the clientele that know how to play at a good pace.
Mostly good
Course was in good shape.
Greens were excellent
Course is solid value $74 for a resort style course.
Bunkers went from a 1/5 to a 2/5. They’re working on them but they are still crap
Pace of play for a Thursday was 5 hours. Aweful.
Nice pace!
Played early (7:30) and had no problem finishing 4 hours. Always enjoy this course.
Don’t Waste Your Money
Let me start by saying I completely understand and was fine with the greens being aerated, my rating has nothing to do with that. I understood the greens would be aerated before I played, so this review was not influenced by that.
I was really surprised at how bad of shape the course was in. The fairways were a mess with the grass being cut wrong or unevenly causing some of the grass to die in the direction that the mower drove. Really inconsistent. There were random mounds of dirt in the fairways on multiple holes, almost looked like gophers. There were rocks mixed in with the sand in multiple bunkers. The grass around the greens was overgrown and not maintained. This was my first time playing this course and just was really disappointed, especially for the price. I just don’t understand what the heck they’re doing with the fairways with part being dead, part being mowed too short and burned, and part looking under watered (though other parts were literally flooded).
Another disappointing aspect was the cart attendant. Extremely overpriced. They charge roughly $8 each for Michelob Ultras, which is insane. Ordered 4 and it was over $30 before tip. I don’t know a single local course other than this one that charges more than $6 each. If I would have known ahead of time I would have passed on the beers.
For how nice the pro-shop and bar was, the course does not match at all, at least not in its current condition. All staff was super friendly and helpful and pace of play was good, but I really can’t recommend this course right now for this price under its current condition. The layout of the course is fun and challenging, no issues there at all, just terrible conditions. Not worth $65+ when there are a lot of other local courses that charge less and are in better shape.
Big let down
I’ll start from the beginning. Got there checked in was told to come back 10 minutes before to get cart. Why? The range is a long walk away from the pro shop. Just give me a cart! Decided to get some coffee from the little shop outside. $19 for a small burrito and small coffee. Wow! Way to expensive. Pace of play was ok. We played in 4 hours and 20 minutes. We were a foursome and let a twosome play through. They allowed a single to join them on number 11. Huh? Why now? We caught them and it Slowed us down considerably.
Course conditions - Tee boxes are 1 star. Fairways are in 3.5 star condition. Rough is high and overgrown. 75% of the greens are horrible. Lots of divot marks. They are aerating soon so they probably don’t care. For $74 there are better out there. All in all was disappointed this course used to be in the upper echelons of courses now it’s just meh.
Challenging, but fun
Had a great time! The only thing missing was that rare flying species of the Aves class!
