Pebble
Walked the Golds (6454/73.2/137) in 4H, 20M mid morning. CPO if riding. Like others, I took advantage of the Inn being closed because of COVID and was 'only" required to pay the golf fee. After playing in a gale in May, the weather was great this time. Started out in the 50's but was 70 by the end of the round. Calm most of the round, 1-2 club wind the last few holes. Played with John and Dan, and our forecaddie was Jerry, who was very nice and helpful.
Having walked the course once before definitely assisted. Alex's review of 2 days ago was spot on and especially captured the essence of the greens and sand traps perfectly. The course was immaculate overall.
Tees lush, almost immaculate. Only thing I did not rate 10/10, and they got a 9/10.
Fairways were immaculate.
Primary rough surprisingly even, about 2.5", lush and THICK. Usually difficult to play out of, several times our group had balls we could not locate until almost on top of them not that far off fairways. Every hole has some native areas that are a likely lost ball.
Traps were amazing. Lots of nice, fluffy sand. And I had 4 fairway and 5 greenside opportunities to sample them.
Had a good putting day my first round @ PB. Today experienced what Alex mentioned prominently in his review. Had 2 chip in 0 putts, otherwise my putting numbers would have been unusually high. Small poa greens remind me very much of the Donald Ross course I grew up playing back in N.C. Greens rolled great in spite of my not making hardly any putts.
Customer Service outstanding. Asked if I could purchase a replacement bag tag for the one that was stolen several months ago, they gave me a replacement. Much appreciated! All grass range across the street was available before the round. Got there early and hit some different wedges on a simulator in doors set up as hole #7. Pro Shop and shops open this visit. Masks required at check-in and when dealing with all P.B. personnel, not required on the course. No on course services today. New TW designed par 3 course looks about ready for prime time. Highly recommended.

SCGA Member Outing at Pebble Beach
I actually played this course, Links at Spanish Bay and Spyglass in July 1976
Good times
COurse condition & weather were good. There was heavy traffic due to the Thanksgiving holiday starts.
It should be no traffic these days due to COVID-19 but
that day happened. I arrived just before tee times and I wanted to ride the cart but no cart available after 12:20. A little bit challenging to walk. That's a hard exercise for me. But That's a good experience for me. I like this course and would like to come back again.
Great classic course, well-kept and fun
The absolute perfect practice round before the big day at Pebble/Spyglass/Cypress. It's really, almost shockingly well-maintained for the price. Similar greens and tee-boxes to the world-class 831 courses. Really fun and not at all difficult.
Good golf course
Good golf course but a bit overrated. Not worth $500+.
Fast play on well kept course
Course was great! Played solo in the afternoon and there was no one behind me or close in front. Had all the time I could ask for to enjoy this course while not waiting around. Great price for the area. Course was in great condition and staff was very nice and accommodating. Will definitely be back next week and so on
Nice and relaxing
Nice course not terribly hard, greens in great condition
No driving range
Please note there is no driving range here. The description is not correct.
Beautiful Course
This course had beautiful views along the way and we were able to have family wave to us at the 17th hole from the patio of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This is a great course to have in my backyard.
Tired course
Seems like a tired course, not worth the money. I think you can play other places in the area that are nicer courses for less money. I don’t need to go back for awhile.
Worth the money
Everything I expected and more. Driving range is about a mile away and nothing special but the putting green was nice. There is a shuttle to take you to the course.
It is surreal to play the course when you have memorized the holes from the watching tournaments over the years. Most proud of my pars on 7 and 8 which are iconic holes. I was fortunate to have someone pay for my round but would pay the green fee in a heart beat. Hope to come back again.
Overrated and Busy and Pricey
Pros:
1. Weather was perfect and super convenient if you stay at the Hyatt next door
2. Greens in fantastic shape and fast
3. You can buy Pebble Beach gear in the clubhouse and friendly staff in there
Cons:
1. Course overrun by local "Duke's Members" on Columbus Day (Mon, 12 Oct) who only pay $48.
2. Large swaths of dead brown grass.
3. Backed up on hole #2 - took about 4.5 hours to walk. Slower than it should have been. We were a threesome.
4. Retail is $110 and I paid $89 on Golf Now, but feels like a $49 course.
5. For $110 or less you could play better courses in the area.
6. Had big expectations because it is a Pebble Beach property, but felt like my local muni where I pay $29 twilight.
7. Thought the course would be in fantastic shape because it had been closed for 7 months, but lots of divots and tee boxes just ok. Strange it was not pristine. Had only been open 12 days.
8. No amenities due to COVID. One food cart, but no take-away food from the restaurant.
9. No driving range.
10. Feels like the place needs an update. From the signage to the clubhouse it feels like it would in 1972.
Classic layout
Played with my son and a friend. Great variety of holes. Greens were excellent.
Pace of play was a little slow we walked and it took 4.5 hours . Wish ranger moved people along better.
Overall had a great day. I will play it again soon
