The Par-3 third hole. Don't hit it left or right. Photo submitted by harmser on 03/23/2015
Impressive course, poor value
Played 18 holes with cart on Friday July 3, 2026 (observed Independence Day). Beautiful grounds and clubhouse area. Disappointed to hit off mats for driving range. Impressive course design with creative and challenging features -- some of the most difficult approach shots I've seen with mostly elevated greens and an abundance of truly challenging greenside and fairway bunkers, which were well maintained. Jaw-dropping views of cliffs and surrounding oceanside as well with many great photo opportunities. Greens were moderately fast -- I expected faster for a premium course -- and poorly maintained with multiple ball marks on every hole. Rough was shockingly easy to navigate -- short and stiff more like a first cut. I was very disappointed with the lack of rough consistency in general and near greens making chipping unnecessarily and cheaply challenging. I was shocked and angered that on a holiday Friday they closed all bar/food/shack areas by 3 or 4 PM; cart food and beverage was available until closer to 6 PM but it's frankly insulting to pay so much and they can't even operate basic amenities to a reasonable hour on a holiday weekend no less. Overall it was an enjoyable round but I would not return based on poor value and lack of commitment to a quality product and would caution others from paying non-resident fees.
Good track but a bit over priced
Course has potential to be amazing. Amenities are great and so is the range. But conditions were average at best. Fairways and tee boxes were not super well kept. Greens were solid though but very difficult to read. Very beautiful par 3s
The most beautiful course ever!
I misread the tee time so we only had 15 minutes when we arrived but the staff were super nice and didn’t make us feel rushed. The flowers and landscaping, water features are amazing. Kudos to the landscaping crew. Snack bar and beverage cart were friendly and efficient. I would play again tomorrow! Ed in the pro shop went above and beyond!
Great staff , lovely corse
Friendly in the pro shop and starter.
Interesting holes, and course well looked after .
Greens were in good condition ,and fast on the day we played .
Bar and restaurant excellent. We had lunch and dinner ,
both excellent
Exceptional Course
Absolutely love playing this course. Always perfect conditions. Friendly staff.
Great resort course
Best golf in Carlsbad. Wish I played twice instead of La Costa South.
$300 for 5 hrs
One of the most beautiful golf courses in the world.
Horribly managed for pace of play and very expensive for non-residents.
Got five hours and $300 to kill.
Go for it.
One of the best courses I’ve ever played
Got the opportunity to play here yesterday. Will caveat my review by saying I don’t often splurge for $300+ (including club rental) courses, I tend to play most of my golf at a lower price point. Having said that the course is stunning, and in great condition. Greens were a nice balance of challenging but not insanely punitive. Myself and the rest of my group were blown away. Staff were also awesome across the board, from the pro shop to the snack cart. Couldn’t recommend it more.
beautiful
for the money green wasn't the best so do fairway .
played some amazing corses for about half of price ,but I am glad I played here very beautiful place .
punched greens
the fairways, bunkers and rough were good. However, they punched the greens 1 week prior and they were bumpy and sandy. Of course, golf now nor the course gave any notice, and for the price, was not a good value. Let ppl know via g/n or a banner on the web site that says the greens have been punched, and or give a discount for such, which i know will never happen. LOL....
The Best Course @ Avaira
