Great tough course
It is a great course to test your skills. You need to use your head to play it finesse is the key be patient. It is not a power course unless you have great control. I enjoy it every time. The staff is very friendly and helpful!
Beautiful view
Course could be more friendly if there was another front tee box. Too hard to carry for short distance hitter on some of the holes.
Challenging Course in a Beautiful Location
The Links at Squaw Creek is a very challenging course and was in excellent condition when I played. Squaw Valley makes a great backdrop for the course, with stunning views. Greens were supreme, fairways were very good. This course is TIGHT. Not much room for driver and requires strong shotmaking skills.
great views brutal course
Tough course. The toughest I ever played. Lost a lot of balls. the course is made for the skilled shotmaker. good shots go unrewarded. The high handicapped player would really struggle on this course. If I were to play it again, it would be for the views and the facilities. Beautiful property
Great Rate
I Played this course for less than half of the normal rate. Conditions were not ideal as it was very windy and it did rain a little bit but it was still a good round of golf. It is a hard course as some of the other reviews have said but that just makes it more fun in my opinion. I will be returning!
Challenging but fun
This course was challenging but fun. And in a beautiful settimg. I don't reccomend this course to the average player though. Its a very narrow course and the rough is very thick. If you miss the fairway you are in trouble. The majority of the holed are in the wetlands and if you miss the fairways you will have a difficult time finding your ball it the high grass and wetland areas. Most of the par 3s are difficult because they are long with forced carry.if you are a single digit handicap you will enjoy the challenge. But if not you are in for a long day and a lot of lost balls. Great value though on golfnow.
Impressive all around
I don't understand how this course rates a 3. My rating of 5 is partly a result of how much it exceeded my expectations.
I'm a bogey golfer, and I had a great time out there. I just had to take less risks than usual to stay on the fairways. No big deal. Yup, I lost some balls but no more than normal.
There is one par three on the back nine that requires an accurate shot or you might be in the drink or high grass. The rest of the course just required care for me and I had a fun time.
I didn't eat here but I assume it's pretty good fare at the resort.
Intermediate and advanced golfers will enjoy the challenge and beautiful surroundings. Not recommended for beginners.
Very difficult, but not in a fun way
Narrow fairways, blind shots, black hole ruffs. Don't hit off the fairway, you'll never find your ball. Bring lots of balls.
Great Potential
I was thoroughly impressed with the overall facilities. But was fairly disappointed in the condition of the course. As benign as the winters have been I would have expected the tees and greens to be in much better shape. The course itself is a great layout but be prepared for some of the RTJ forced layups and a lot of target golf. The front 9 can lull you to sleep a little, as I shot 33, but the back 9 will get your full attention. We played in 3 hours which was phenomenal and I will definitely return despite the above mentioned short comings.
Does not tolerate miss hits
If you are not straight and accurate with your shots, this course can be very frustrating. I was paired with two other singles but I was the only first-timer. I'm struggling with a slice when using my driver and I paid the penalty (I think I lost 9 balls). However, one of my partners, who normally shoots in the mid-90's (I usually show in the 100's), said he lost 12 balls. When you have a 195 yard par 3 where you lose the ball in the hazard if you're 10 yards short of the green is a bit rough. A push or pull can be just as hazardous to your score.
Golf course
First time their. Dont think ill return. If your not staying at Squaw Creek, and your just coming there to play they make it very difficult for you to find the Pro Shop. Make sure you bring alot of balls cause this course is Really narrow, And difficult.
Bring Your A Game
This course is set at the base of Squaw Valley Ski Resort and offers sweeping vistas of the cable car tram and surrounding mountains. The layout is extremely challenging because the majority of the holes are surrounded by a marsh. There are not very many trees in play which makes the wind a big factor if you are playing in the afternoon. I would only play this course if your handicap is 12 and under otherwise you will lose lots of balls and have a bad time.
super unique layout
Course was in good shape super fast greens and really cool layout was real smokey out due to fires in erea was real slow had tourny going on and this group had no golf politeness and there was no marshall out there to keep them in line very disappointing would like to play again when no tourny going on
Might be better if we ever get rain
Fairways and greens were burned out. The streams that meander around the course are all dried up. If course conditions had been better, I would have given it an extra star.
September is special
Great weather, few golfers and excellent course condition all led to an amazing day. Took advantage of the "all you can play" offer and played 36 holes in 7 hours.
squaw creek
The course was in good condition and was tough . Enjoyed playing it.
Poor Choice
Played the course for the first time, unfortunately the course is poorly maintained. To start with, there is no driving range, you hit balls into a net. You need to pick up your own balls. All the greens are in poor condition, lumpy and bumpy. The bunkers are full of weeds. The cart girl complained about how long she was on shift, and was very rude. There is no bathrooms on the course. The resort it's self was beautiful. The only good thing about sqawcreek was Dustin the bartender at Sandys. He poured great drinks! I do not recommend this course!
Amazing course with excellent vistas
Amazing views. Challenging course, in very good condition. I would play again in a heart beat. I play a lot of golf on different courses around the world and this made my top list.
Poor condition
Course is poorly maintained and was set up on not enough land for a good golf course.
Very hard for any golfer above a ten handicap, because it's very tight and a target golf course with a lot of forced layup shots.
Great location just run cheaply but, NOT CHEAP TO PLAY!
Overall the course was good.
Complaints: Easy fix. Not able to drive off cart path...PROBLEM! Bunkers, full of weeds!!
Groups of 5 ahead of us...PROBLEM! No ranger!
Beverage cart, nice girl but, Prices were WAY out of line! The selection of snacks and beverages were TERRIBLE!!! Fosters, Coors "lite", No names brands!!! Really!!! A resort like this should have Quality beverages! Then they had the nerve to charge $7 and $8 for this stuff!!! Skittles!!! Who eats this stuff on the golf course? These are adults NOT 6 year old's and they paid good $$$ to play here. Overall....somewhat disappointed!!
