Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan

I had a tee time at 1225. Everything was great except there was a frost delay that severely slowed play. I spoke with some locals and it seems this is common, so I think the course could do a better job at anticipating this and not having so many tee times. It was frustrating bnotmbeing able to finish.

Great courses, the new work they put into it has paid off!!

First, amazing course layout and conditions. Not extremely difficult but enough to cause a bit of stress. Well worth the money to most in the area.

Second and last. Where was the course marshal? I was able to tee off nearly 20 minutes early. The group I was paired with tee’d off 10 before me. By hole 8 we had caught up to my original group to join and get stuck behind a stack of 4 groups, 3 golfers a group. Course wide open in front. There is no reason to turn an easy regular course of play for a Thursday afternoon, in to more than five hours. A marshal could have easily fixed. We ended up losing daylight and any rhythm of play.

Note, our group did contact the marshal on 10. Still didn’t do anything about the slow groups.

Cart stops without warning when you go more than 4-5 feet off the path. Made for many a long walk across the fairways.

Greens could have been faster, which would have made it very good play. Also rough cut was inconsistent.

Bunkers were in very good condition.

Ok, so this course is under construction. With that out of the way, now to the review.

Simply put, what was in play was in good shape and very playable, however, where there is construction, it is definitely under construction. Lots of folks have left damning reviews for "how bad the course conditions " are, but I'm telling you, you will not be disappointed with the experience as long as you understand the course is under construction. My wife and I had a great experience, pro shop staff was pleasant, snackbar staff was pleasant, and the cart gals were pleasant as well.

So on to our personal review:

The range is convenient, easy to use ball distribution. The only complaint is that it's a mat only range, no chance to tee up for driver warm up.

The starter was very helpful and informative.

Signage was decent (needs a little improvement)

Cart paths were brand new in some places, and non existent in others. Again under construction.

The construction crew was mindful of the golfers, and paused/moved when necessary.

In closing, we had an opportunity to spend a beautiful California day together playing golf, and on more than one occasion spoke of how exciting the finished product will be.

I bought the players club card at the beginning of the year and planned on playing here quite a bit. I love the courses and the staff has always been great. The bar and restaurant have outstanding food and a great staff as well. In early spring they raised the rates and took away the twilight discount for players club members. That was disappointing but it didn’t discourage me too much. Then I noticed the food prices going way up. All of a sudden it was $45 for a six pack of light beer. This summer, my dad, my brother in law and myself played every single Sunday. We played both courses even with the construction on Oak. We primarily walk but Dad rides in the cart a lot. Point is, me and my family have spent quite a bit of money at this place in 2022. We just kept taking the price hikes in stride.

Then today we show up on our standard booked tee time we have played since May and we are told it is now $79 to WALK! Just last week it was $60 even with the major construction. This is the last straw. The three of us will be taking our golf business elsewhere every single Sunday from now on. It is unbelievable, not to mention terrible business, that they have raised rates TWICE now in the same year when many of us have purchased their players club card which advertised completely different rates when it was sold to us.

I hope others will think twice about letting these hustlers dig that deep into your pockets like this.

Everything about the course was great. But 1 out of the foursome are not able to make it. Course insisted that I pay for all 4. And if I don’t, then they will charge golf now and golf now will charge me. Not sure how true that is, but I paid for 4 when only 3 people are playing.

One player had to rent clubs. They actually made him take his clubs into the club house. Most courses will just ask clients to leave the clubs in the cart.

Service is more like municipal course I guess.

Short game starter course to get your confidence up on striking your irons. Greens were were not kept up and damaged. Multiple divots and extremely slow greens. Sprinklers coming on during your round and had 9 people jump on in front of us for a single hole. Took over 2 hours for 5 holes when 9 people just jump in front of you. No one cared. Won’t be back.

Didn't finish my round. Left at 4:40 mark. Just terrible. Marshal not concerned. Traveling group at least one hole behind. Course in decent condition.

They’re redoing Oak right now, so that being said they’re trying their best to make the most of it. That being said, they should not be charging $90 on a weekend for the condition it is in. The staff are awesome but they’re just overcharging for this place. Can’t wait to see it when the construction is done!

Great course to work those irons with tricky pin placements on some holes. The tee boxes were fully mowed this time. Last month the tee boxes were like hitting out of the rough.
