Fountains Course April 5th
Took two friends who played for the first time. They totally enjoyed it. It was a perfect day for golf and being with friends at a very nice course.
Great Executive Course
Lawrence Welk's Fountain course is the perfect mix of par 3s and intermediate par 4s to produce an enjoyable round. We were pleasantly surprised that the course was wide open on Easter Sunday so we breezed through in 2-hours. The course was in excellent condition and over all it was great fun. I even birdied #9 which made my day.
Beautiful course,great short game workout.
If you like to use your driver this is not the course for you..lol.. but if you enjoy giving your irons both big and small a good solid workout and also appreciate challenging deep roughs amongst beautiful scenery.. then I highly recommend this pretty little course off the avocado Highway in North County San Diego. Greens were heavy but still nicely playable.
Rambo
A fun course to start the season with a great variety of par 3's and 4's. Considering it's an executive course the layout is top notch. We had a great day, and would recommend this course to anyone.
Executive means short course
As visitors from the UK we didn’t recognise the term Executive course, so we were disappointed when we arrived to find it is a short course of mainly par 3 holes. However the course is in good shape & we really enjoyed the company of our playing partners. Pace of play was slow. If you want to practice your short game & have plenty of time, then this is the course for you.
Good for short game practice
Had an 11:30a tee time and hardly anyone on the course so pace of play was dependent only on us. Starter was super friendly and explained the tricky tee boxes on the course (5,6,&8) where you must cross over a waterway to find them. Tee boxes were in average condition; I suspect a lot of hackers and families with kids from the resort on the course taking chunks out of them. Greens were in great condition; read them carefully because some of the greens on the slope break counterintuitive. To it’s namesake, the course is littered with oak trees but they rarely affect play. However, if you happen to flub your ball into the blanket of oak leaves on the ground, good luck finding it. Overall, I recommend this course for a quick, 2-hour warmup round for the neighboring, tournament-length, Fountains Course or for practicing your short game.
Take note that the resort also runs foot golf here - a soccer/golf hybrid game - that runs along this course and shares the same tee boxes and has soccer ball sized holes (left or right of the golf greens) marked with white flags; golf pins are all yellow flags here.

Love this course. Great conditions and friendly staff and played my best being my 3 some. I will be back.
Nice family outing
We had a great day walking the Oaks Course.
Conditions were perfect if a little hot but we're used to it.
The foot golfers can be a bit of a distraction as their game doesn't demand the quietness and courtesy of golf. However, I'm happy the facility can find other ways to provide revenue in these times.
Excellent executive layout.......
Have played here many times over many years...always in great condition....and it's always a challenge.....greens are fast and being on the side of a mountain, they're challenging to putt.....great staff.
Short but good course
Not a single par 5 on this short course. No need to bring along the driver. Even though some holes are 300+ yards, you rarely have a shot at the green from the tee box. Greens run a little slow. It is a great little course to get the irons working for you though. Expect most holes to play 130-160 yards from Tournament tees to the pin. Course was in great shape for both of my rounds.
Saturday morning
There really is nothing like walking onto a course with fog still hanging in the deeper valleys and swales. Like always, the Fountain course was perfectly maintained, and just challenging enough to make birdies a thrill and bogeys just waiting for you. After an hour on the course the fog fully cleared and the sun warmed just enough.
Welks Fountsins
Good first time experience using golf now. Course in good condition. Pace of play very slow. Many novice players taking too much time. Did not see a marshal during our 3 1/2 hr. round.
Worse round ever
We were paired with a first time player and novice teacher who was unfamiliar with rules or etiquette of golf. The pace of play was maddening due to "try overs" , on course instructions and 4 & 5 put greens. This was on a busy Saturday morning.
We allowed 3 groups to pass us and another group skipped a hole to pass us. A ranger should have showed up and advised the couple to speed up. The starter may have been aware of a beginning player as he made a comment that we would enjoying playing with the named individual.
Welk Resort
Great course to work on your short and mid irons. Only par 3s and 4s but I think that's what makes it fun. My only issue was the pace of play. My dad and I got stuck behind a very slow foursome that would not let us pass. We were waiting 5-10 minutes on almost every tee box. On top of that, the threesome behind us kept catching up to us and yapping at us for being slow when clearly it was not our fault. Other than that, I love playing here. Just watch your misses off the fairways and greens. It's a tight course surrounded by residential buildings.
