Needs maintenance
Unfortunately this place is not what is was 3 yrs ago. Don't know why it's in such bad shape. Needs a lot of work. Greens and tee boxes are in bad shape. And this place used to be top notch
Great course pending improvements
This course was a top tier club about 20 years ago. Time has taken its toll on the course. The tee boxes, fairways, and roughs are in desperate need of water. Extensive repairs are needed to the greens, most of which have patches of green sand on them. The bunkers have "pancaked" and are in need of repair. They only have a shallow top dressing of new sand. The carts are old and worn out. The dining and beverage facilities, while nice in appearance are closed. If the ownership invested money in the upkeep of the facility, this would be a great course to play, rather than an at best average one.
Not worth the money
I’ve played this course a few times over the years. This last round was not that impressive. The course conditions were terrible and the only drinks/snacks I could get were limited to the cart person on the course. The staff were friendly but I can’t say I would look forward to playing g this course again. Unless it was for a bargain. I dont feel it was worth the 45$ I paid. Maybe the pandemic has taken a toll?
Zero money put back into the course
Have been coming to Florida for over 25 years. We always stay in Weston and always play this course. It is a shell of what it used to be. So sad that once a great course it's so poorly managed. I play it because it's minutes from where I stay. I've never played a course with greens as bad as these, HUGE bald spots and weeds growing right on the greens. I believe it was bought out by some foreign investors a few years ago and it is unbelievable how much it has gone downhill. I hope someone else buys this course and restores it to it's glory. I wish I would have taken pictures.
Horrible Greens and Pace
Greens are absolutely ridiculous. Traffic for literal hours on every tee. Took me almost 3 hours to play front 9. No starter people just tee off with no regard for start time. Ghetto course.
Horrible condition and design
What a minefield. The fairways are all weeds and rough is St Augustine. Greens were slow and bumpy and pocked with holes and large swathes of green sand. Very hard to score yourself fairly because of the conditions.
This course also eats balls. Lots of water and very hazardous for a high handicapper. Not very fun at all.
For the price of a tee time here you can play the big beautiful courses in Broward and palm beach instead. They need to close down and rejuvenate everything or cut their price in half and get rid of the stupid waterfall and other holes that slow the pace of play to a halt.
Course Needs Work
We have played this course many times over the years we have visited Weston. This year it’s in very poor condition. The greens were almost unplayable. Very disappointing and we won’t play there again. No water available to fill our water bottles, carts were dirty, no driving range. Almost makes us think it’s going out of business which is strange since there are multi-million dollar homes all around it.
TRUE ASSESSMENT!
Greeting's Golfers,
My buddy and I from Canada played this course as we were on a 50th birthday tour!
We read the terrible reviews but thought we would try it out anyways.
They were true!
The putting green looked like a weed infested chunk of DIRT!
A number of the greens had large sand traps on them...truly brutal...like putting across the Sahara desert in many places.
The pace of play was WILD! There was a 5-some ahead of us...and BELIEVE THIS...a 10-some in front of them! YES, a 10-some! We complained to the marshal on the fifth hole (he was also the starter...but wasn't there when we started! lol) and he finally allowed us to skip a hole and move on!
So we finished up playing the round with a couple of local lads...great dudes...and we enjoyed the back 9--albeit...the course was not in great shape at all.
It's almost like they didn't pay any attention to it during COVID and let it go beyond repair! Too bad as it is a cool layout with potential.
The fellow in the club house was saying next time tell them you are a Florida resident...then it's only $50USD to play...which in my buddy and my eyes is still about $20 too much!
We played Pembroke Lakes the next day and it is WELL WORTH THE $80USD! 10x the course!
Play at your own risk...but we won't be back to the BONAVENTURE!
Cheers,
Jay Geddes
